Even with a flat cap for two more years, Rangers can fit all of their current line-up for another few years. This will depend on Fox, Kakko and Kravtsov signing bridge deals in 2022. They will have Lafreniere and Miller deals in 2023 and potentially new Shesty, Fox, Kakko and Kravtsov deals in 2024. By then the salary cap should be up. We may have to trade a player or two. But for right now, and next few seasons, Rangers are in a great position on salary cap. Since they have no dead weight, I'd argue they are in one of the best cap positions in the league.
Notes: (1) I added Deangelo's buyout as a new player (at $833,333 for 2022-23 season, which reflects his buyout charge). (2) Zibanejad takes a discounted salary due to his slow start this year, so it may be shorter-term deal. (3) In the 2021 draft, I selected Aatu Räty, a Finnish centre, with the 14th pick overall. (4) In the 2022 draft, I selected Russian winger Ivan Miroshnichenko with the 25th pick overall. (5) Fox, Kakko and Kravtsov all sign bridge deals so the amounts could be on the higher end. (6) I made no trades. (7) I signed all of the reserve list and most of the RFA list. (8) I let some UFAs walk (Bitetto, Brodzinsky, Di Giuseppe, Geersten, Greco, Johnson, Kinkaid, Raddysh and Smith). (9) and I didn't sign any new UFAs.
Its flat cap for 4 years. Have fun signing Miller, Lundkvist, Raty and Laf after their rookie years. And resigning Fox, Shesty, Krastov, Kaako, Chytil from their bridge contracts
I don't think the Rangers cap situation is bad.
And young players earning more off ELC's is a good problem to have.
(better than old players sucking up cap space while sitting in press box).
But the Rangers young guns gotta earn it first, then it will be the problem they want it to be.

Which of any of those players have earned a contract over 5m so far??? Yes, just Fox, Mr I’ll only play for NYR so he will simply take a long term discount contract anyways. All other have earned less than that, by a lot. There isn’t going to be any 7-12m contracts given out to any of these guys till they are 25+.

What's going to happen in the 23-24 offseason? Less than 200k in cap space and not resigning Strome clears 4.5 M. 2.5 M clearing out of buyouts. So 7.2 Mil in cap space to sign Laf, Miller, and Lundkvist. Even with bridge deals, they aren't taking 2.4 M each

The above roster has Kakko and Kravs making too much. Buch and strome will be gone by then. Regardless, if all these kids earn 6m+ contracts it will mean we are a contenders and can afford to give up someone for more future. Also Geo will be gone by then and Lindgren is paid too much in the above. There’s plenty of cap space when you correct the salaries and move strome, geo and possibly buch

Kaako and Kravtsovs deals seem reasonable. Make an ACGM with all of the salaries because the money could work out
