I think there are higher offers on Kuznetsov on this board this week.

Don't care about what the rest of the board is offering. Dude is trending down. (51 pts per 82 this year). Don't see many teams selling the farm for a 51 pt center that can't win Faceoffs.

He can get more points if he plays 1C minutes, but Laviolette values Backstrom's defense, and the team is winning, so no complaints here.

Here's a Ducks thread offering Henrique, Steel, and a 3rd round pick for Kuznetsov. https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2285143

Steel alone might be worth the above picks. Henrique might be worth another 3rd? Ducks fans had a conversation and didnt' mention Kuznetsov, and then a Sens fan posted "Washington declines." So, you know, he might have some value to some fans of teams besides Minnesota. I think Columbus wants a #1C more than Anaheim or Ottawa, though. I posted a Domi+++ deal for Kuznetsov on their side and nobody batted an eyelash. So, you know, yeah. Kuznetsov is worth more than a 1st. But if Landeskog signs in WSH as a UFA then maybe they have to let him go cheaper to get under the cap by the start of the season? It's fine. I don't hate it. But a lot of times when you take a guy who you're used to seeing in 1st line minutes and stick him on a 2nd line, he gets fewer points, sort of like Kuznetsov this year.

So...just looked up Paul Stastny and what he got traded for in 2018. Stastny was a former 70 pt getter, A Faceoff Stud, NOT a defensive liability and no off ice issues I can remember. He got a 1st, a 4th and Erik Foley(yeah Who??). Albeit, Stastny was a little older than Kuzy at the time, but with the Faceoffs and defense it's at worst a wash...so yeah...keep saying Kuzy is worth a ton...NHL history doesn't dictate that. wink

Stastny was a washed up 70 point center. Kuznetsov is a slumping 80 point center, four years younger. There is no comparison. Here's what Columbus fans didn't say yes or no to: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2282594

That's more than just about value, though. Columbus just lost their franchise center in exchange for a young Ovechkin clone. They could use a center who knows how to get the puck to Ovechkin for one-timers. You've tried sending Kuznetsov to Minnesota before. They've said they don't have cap space. Are you trying to kill his value by repeating the same thing you know doesn't work? Because he does have a lot of trade value.

I never liked Kuzy playing 1C. Again, as I've mentioned before..."elite" centers get better at Kuzy's age...not regress. "Elite" centers normally(with exceptions) can win Faceoffs and normally are not hidden on the defensive end. Just because Kuzy had a couple of good years on stacked teams, doesn't make him anything special. If he had kept getting better and added to his game over the last few years this would be a different conversation, but he hasn't. Add too that the huge drop in offensive production and you're looking at a upper mid pack center at best.

Oh....and I do believe he got pulled from our PP1 as well...not good, not good at all

The main post does increase value for WSH, in terms of Kuznetsov for Landeskog being a lateral move, and being able to trade Kuznetsov for value while signing Landeskog being a way to get something for nothing. I'm with you on that part. That's not even trolling, just smooth asset management.

Can you try to trust fans of other teams that say they do want Kuznetsov and will give something for him? This year a bunch of Caps fans want a late 1st from Minnesota for him, and that's a no. Okay.... last year you wanted to trade Kuznetsov and McMichael for Larkin and Glendening. https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1897672 That was a no from Detroit, but it should be a bigger no from Washington. Kuznetsov is still outscoring Larkin on points/game and McMichael might, soon, too. If you want to trade sombeody, they're only going to end up traded to a team that needs them. Teams that need a top six C and have cap space and aren't looking to get all their guys to be 20 years old look like CBJ, Ana, Ott, Buf, and maybe a few Philly fans if the cap balances. Do with that what you want.

As for Kuznetsov playing on PP2, it's going to help the team's overall PP% if they have two real units, and Kuznetsov barely got the puck on unit 1, because Backstrom, Oshie, Carlson, and Ovechkin barely need any help. They could stick Panik at PP1L and build a better 2nd unit.

Panik would probably fall onto the Jets' 4th line. That isn't great value for his $2.75 million AAV for the next two years.

Again. Crosby or the pens have absolutely nothing to do with this thread. So why bring them up? And why do you get extremely upset when you’re asked a simple question?
