Gaudreau's clearly the superior player right now but I'd rather keep the younger and locked-in player if I'm Philly. If they ever trade Konecny, it should be for a bona-fide 1RD.

Really? This was from the Custance’s article talking to execs and this was the one trade proposal they approved. Reasoning was CGY is in need of RH winger and Johnny’s ice time has dropped significantly since Sutter’s arrival

Surprised you’re fellow CGY fans hate the trade. From a Phi standpoint it looks like they lose the trade bc TK is signed for 5 more years at a reasonable price. From the article their logic was Johnny is going to end up signing in Philly anyway in 2 years anyway so my as well get him now.

Flames decline the trade because konecny isn’t good enough to carry his own line and gaudreau is good enough and gaudreau will probably re-sign in Calgary so they have no need to trade him. Also the reason I say gaudreau will probably re-sign in Calgary is because he said him and his fiancé love the city and could see themselves stay there for a while.

I think most Flames fans that don’t like it haven’t watched Konecny enough to appreciate his game
