Description
I think that we will honestly not see a lot of major changes like a lot of fans want right now. This team is my attempt at a relatively realistic expectation of what Chuck and co. do next year. I think they're a little stubborn, and will mostly keep the forward group together. I can see them moving on from Elliott due to age and possibly wanting someone who can play a bit more without injury risk due to Hart's struggles. Dell will be not as sought after, but has been a solid back up/1B in the past. I think they go hard after Savard if he hits FA, and I gave it the 1 year contract with a bit of an overpayment as that seems to be a trend with the flat cap. I'm aware this could be unrealistic, but we don't really know what the FA market trends will be like and we saw a lot of 1 year deals for players that surprised us this year. Personally, I think that I like the Savard deal is a potentially good one. I would like to see a forward added similar to Pitlick last year, but idk how the cap would work other than letting Raffl go or basically a cap dump of say a Ghost. I think Ghost could be traded, but the trades I see here with him are usually ridiculous. We wouldn't be from a place of strength. I didn't do a ton of signings of the reserves in guys like York because the minor and college leagues are very much in flux at the moment. I signed Ginning and Ersson as they're European and have been raising eyebrows recently, they can come to LV or stay in the SHL.

I think Seattle takes NAK for his physicality, youth, upside, and cheapness. I imagine we protect: Coots, Hayes, Giroux, JVR, TK, Oskar, Laughton. We expose Jake as they may not want that high a cap hit in the flat cap. If you dislike this, you can imagine that we protect Jake instead of JVR if thats more to your liking. I do not think they take Ghost, its been a while since he was that Ghost, and while he's been good this year idk if its worth it compared to a young player.

I put Hayes in the protection list, I did miss Coots lol I coulda sworn I wrote him in. Imagine replacing either Jake or JVR with him, as I can't imagine Seattle is keen on taking all that cap. My bad, thanks for letting me know.

You don't have to protect Laughton, he is a UFA. I think they take Patrick.

I missed hayes lol but I knew you somehow forgot coots, I did all kinds of mock drafts and im pretty sure they have the cap for JVR and then some, and since scott is a UFA just protect patrick and re-sign him after the expansion draft (since FA is dats after the ED)

I would pay for them to take Jake, but I think JVR might be the one, could be a James Neal type player for Seattle

No reason to protect JVR even after his career year he’s having. That 7m could be used to go after a true number 1 like Hamilton

If it were between NAK and Patrick, I think I'd take Patrick. Younger and more upside, as long as he's healthy. Kind of a lotto pick I suppose.

I'd imagine it costs to get them to take JVR or Jake, but it also probably makes a bit of sense. I was actually blown away that Jake is actually still only 31. I looked the other day and did a double take. Seems like he's been around forever now tears of joy

I also don't think keeping them and adding a Savard-type player is a bad option either. Myers is just going to get better, so adding someone that can play on either pairing is a solid choice. I like the idea of adding Dougie, but with the amount of teams that will likely be in on him, it's not going to be cheap.

I agree with you, but I wanted to do this one in the way I imagine they will actually move forward, less of wishlist. I can see them wanting to keep JVR because of this year plus his "intangibles"

Yeah I think Dougie is not only out of the price range, but not the kind of player the Flyers really need and hence they pass on him. I agree they could go with Patrick, but I just wonder if his performance and injury history makes them not take that flyer. Hypothetically they could protect him and expose JVR I guess.
