Team: 2021-22 Vancouver Canucks
Team Explanation
Virtanen trade based on recent rumours. Alternative plan is to buyout Virtanen and the re-sign Edler at a similar cap hit to Nuutivara’s #

Contract comparables:

Demko -> Merzlikins

Pettersson -> Barzal

Hughes -> No recent comparable. Matched
Pettersson’s contract as I think they have similar value

If Tampa rejects the holtby trade, then Vancouver buys out holtby, and signs a 3C in FA instead.

    I think Johnson could be a good fit as our 3C. Given the situation Tampa is in a trade could be very favourable for us.

    Where's Juolevi?

    Other than that, we don't need Pearson back and DiPietro shouldn't be the backup.

    Generally not a fan of aquiring an asset to buy out but this could work again VSG flexes financial muscle to get what's needed

    Tampa trade could work. Basically just Johnson for free which would be good for Tampa considering many people think they will have to pay for Johnson to leave.

    yes if you consider 2 million in cash and the uninsured portion of Ferland's contract free it's free

    I had the same thought on a Johnson trade the other day. I think that could work out for both teams unless there is someone else out there willing to take Johnson without giving Tampa a bunch of dead money but that's unlikely. Everyone knows their cap situation.

    Kinda forgot about Joulevi. He could be a sweetner in a trade or Expansion Draft victim or whatever

    Pearson you could replace with any other eqvuilient FA. He’s just there to show they can have a middle 6 winger to help add depth.

    I have a lot of faith in Dipietro. The guy works hard and imo he will be ready next year for back up duty

    Juolevi vs. Rathbone is going to be very interesting for the near future. I doubt they want to play one of them in the top-4 for next year, but both need NHL time to improve.

    I think a Johnson trade makes a lot of sense, I would really want them to retain 1M or so. Maybe we wouldn't send cap back in that case, just Ferland. If it's no retention then I would want a mid round pick or a cheap forward (Joseph, Stephens, Volkov, etc.) although they may be extra valuable to Tampa.
