II think it's pretty rational, pitt might have to add in a 4th to wings side, but otherwise it's not roastable

LA isn't a good fit for Pettersson. LA is looking for someone with a higher ceiling. They already have guys that can play in their 2nd and 3rd pairings. They need a bonafide #2 guy to play on the top pair.

This is essentially the Pens plan. Move MP for assets and use some of those assets to improve forwards. I just hope it isn`t Glendening. I would much rather prefer someone like Getzlaf. I also would hope they can swing a deal for another LD.

My last ACGM I had MP to Van for a third and Jordie Benn.

2020 2nd and Riikola for Getzlaf half retained and Nic Deslauriers

Also, McCann should stay with Malkin and Zucker should have his own line. Zucker and Malkin had absolutely zero chemistry.

Wings pass, they'll get a better asset than two late 3rd's for a Ryan and Glendening package

We said No to Pettersson last time when the price was lower, purely on the basis of fit plus the fact that we'd have to expose him or Kale Clague (or both, now that we've acquired Brendan Lemieux) in the expansion draft. Why would we say Yes when the price is raised?

Brendan Lemieux is not worth protecting in the expansion draft.

Then there is no point in trading him.

These are terrible and you should be ashamed of yourself lol.
But honestly, could get more for MP. Don’t think they move him until after the expansion draft. Defensive depth (especially a top 4 one) is more important than 4th liners.

I agree that the fit isn't there; I'm just using LA as example of what Pitt may get in return if they move him. The original price of a 3rd and a 4th seems more realistic to me, but at that point keeping him might be the better option. Ultimately, the goal is to get his salary off the books for next year, potentially add a piece for this year or hold a medium/low value future asset (Mid Round pick).

It seems like a pretty tall task to move him given his performance over the last 2 season. His AAV and term are right in the middle of being overpaid or perfectly paid.

All that to say, it doesn't seem like he really moves the needle, which may make this whole thing invalid.

Burke and Hextall have both made comments that they are looking to add but I wonder if Pitts recent performance is lowering the need. They may be finding solutions for the bottom 6 by giving a few of their AHL guys a chance due to the injuries they've sustained.
