Why is St Louis trading Perron?

The Blues aren't doing that.

No thanks on Sutter. Perron is an upgrade on Kerfoot, who almost has to be traded to make the cap work. Blues trying to make the playoffs probably don't want futures.

What would it take to get him then??

I know some tv were speculating on STL maybe selling off their pending ufas, so I thought I'd try the best fit. Though could try for Schwartz

On of the problems the Leafs have in making these type of trades is they have to get rid of Kerfoot even if the other team retains. And the incoming player misses at least 5 games before he sees NHL ice. I really don't know if it's worth it.

Although if you don't get Sutter, in this scenario, you can keep Kerfoot just need STL to retain almost 50%

1- More than you'd want to give. He's pretty unavailable.

2- Perron is not a pending UFA. And Schwartz is less available than Perron, they have been working on his extension.

Yea I think Perron would be deemed untouchable. Having another really good season. Blues likely deal Hoffman if anything. I'd rather Leafs give up more to get Scott Laughton, or Foligno or Jenner instead of Suter. The player needs to bet a clear upgrade over Kerfoot in order for this team to actually get better.
