I got carried awayunless

Created by: Crentist
Team: 2021-22 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 1, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
At the expansion draft, Flyers protect: Giroux, Hayes, Patrick, Lindblom, Konecny, Couturier, Voracek, Provorov, Sanheim, Dumba, Hart. JVR, Myers, and Aube-Kubel get exposed and NAK gets taken and the Flyers pay them a pick to do so.

Laughton trade: Done at the deadline, Toronto gets a better center and saves $2 million to help get a defenseman. Thought this would be along the lines of a Blake Coleman trade from last year to Tampa.

Ghost trade: Vancouver gets a usable 2nd/3rd pair defenseman and save $ 2 million that they'll probably need to sign Pettersson and Hughes.

Elliot trade: Done at the deadline, Colorado needs an experienced goalie to backup Grubauer.

JVR trade: Columbus ruined Laine so I doubt he will want to come back. I don't see their roster being good for the next few years so it might be a good idea to get away from Jones while he still has value around the league and before you need to pay him. Some people don't believe he is all that good so it could be the right move for them. Flyers need someone to play with Provorov. JVR at $6 million for the next few years is a solid winger that can replace, and probably play better than Laine has. They also get a solid defensive prospect and center prospect.

Dumba trade: They want to trade him before the expansion draft so they can protect more of their forwards, and he is the odd one out on defense. It's basically Dumba for a first round talent and two picks.

Voracek trade: Changing of the core for both teams. Calgary gets an almost point per game player who specializes in passing to give Monahan the puck, Flyers get something similar in Gaudreau. Bennet wants out and Calgary gets a bunch of picks as part of it.

Eichel trade: Flyers get a star who wants out for a good second line center (who could play line 1 on a rebuilding team), a first round talent center prospect, two first round picks. They also get Eriksson and a prospect to pay for his cost on their roster.

Shows the fanbase they're going all in when they need to and since there will be so many expiring deals, keeps the door open for change if things don't go well again.

That Eichel Trade is laughably bad and the rangers could easily offer better

You are getting 2 1sts, a 1st rounder from last year, Hayes and another prospect. Hayes is a 2C and would garner a 1st+ in any deal straight up for him. So can you please explain yourself other than "the Rangers could do better"

This trade never happens but your comment is laughable.

You are making a Laughton trade along the lines of Coleman except Laughton doesn't have the most valuable part of the Coleman trade, term remaining.

I think it is more so taking $3.5 mil off of TOR's books. Leaf fans seem to be trading Kerfoot in every deal as a cap sump.

So Toronto is paying you to take Kerfoot then you are moving him for a pick too? Doesn't seem to line up. Why wouldn't the Leafs just talk to Buffalo and skip Philly and the high pick?

This isn't my team...I didn't say what was happening is what will happen. I just gave my reasoning for 1 trade.

And I'm pointing out why that reasoning doesn't make sense given the OPs other moves.

Most of this doesn't make sense and would never ever happen. LOL

Everything after the CBJ trade is not happening, but some interesting ideas before then.

(I think Kerfoot gets a 2nd though, not a 4th. And dont think you get kerfoot and a 1st.)

Dumba as a minute eating top RD is a good shout in trade, but probably in off season. Hagg and as 4th for a 5th, is a bit hateful. I think Hagg gets a 4th for somebody looking for a solid 7th.
