Why would Arizona need Nylander and Kapanen???? They have Reider, Domi, Duclair, Keller, Crouse, Perlini, Fischer, Dvorak. Last thing they need to do is trade their franchise dman for more forward skill which btw isnt even guaranteed (just based on potential) considering Nylander is inconsistent in the NHL so far and Kapanen has yet to make it full time.

I agree that this trade is a no go for both teams. Also Nylander might just be inconsistent due to that he is a natural center playing on the wing.

Just as the Leafs might be getting seriously good, OEL will be a UFA (summer of 2019). And then Nylander and Kapanen will be gone.

Supposedly Coyote Ownership wouldn't even move Ekman-Larsson for Matthews or even consider it. They're not moving him for this.

Toronto wouldn't move Nylander straight up for OEL. Toronto wanting to get rid of him is entirely a media creation. If not for Matthews we'd be talking about how good he is. If Toronto can dump Bozak in the summer, they'll move him to centre and have 3 top centres.

C'mon RedWing56, do you really believe that they wouldn't move OEL for Matthews? Really? In two years when OEL is a UFA , he will have a decision, to be satisfied losing in Arizona. (like Doan) or seek new challenges.

Oiler: Getting rid of Nylander isn't a media creation, it's a CapFriendly creation. I'm not sure what position Nylander is eventually going to play, he played centre all last year, and now this year except for a few games he's been a RW. And on the PP he can play either wing. Same with Bozak, it's a CapFriendly creation of the Leafs really wanting to move him. Of course if a GOOD deal came by the Leafs would. But in the meantime having Matthews, Kadri and Bozak is almost a necessity for the Leafs.

Leafs have like 60+% chance of making the playoffs, they will not be dealing Bozak this year unless there is a bonafide top 4 RHD offered due to the looming expansion draft.
