To me, this logic doesnt make sense,

Its either Kerfoot is worth a 3rd straight up, which then means Foligno WITH 50% retained is worth a 1st or a high prospect

OR

Foligno is worth a 2nd and a 4th with retained salary, but then theres no way Kerfoot is worth a 3rd straight up ..

I dont see how it can be both

Foligno is 7 years older, has fewer points and if I'm not mistaken worse underlying numbers. He USED to be worth a lot, I'm not really sold that he still is so I think you might be overvaluing him. That said, teams love to overpay for veterans with some grit so you might be right, idk.

They don't have the cap space to carry him moving forward.
It's just not an option.
The only way that works for the penguins is if a guy like Matheson goes back the other way.
But considering they probably won't move him till the offseason I don't see this working out.

yeah yeah yeah....and it cost a 1st to move Gudbranson...and Jack Johnson will never get another NHL contract.....oh wait.
