I feel like the Leafs are pretty well equipped to deal with injuries up front, but not so much on the back end. Adding Savard seems like a good fit. If any of the top 4 defencemen go out in the playoffs, I'm not worried anymore.

I think a 1st is an overpay for no salary retention, in a buyer's market.

I had heard that the Jackets asking price was high for Savard, but I'm happy if it's less than a first

I've heard the same, but I don't know if they'll get a first for him. If they retain 50%, then I could see it but at full price I think it's an overpay in a buyer's market.
