stock up on more depth

Created by: KingsLover
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 11, 2021
Published: Apr. 11, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Leafs have the cap space to make bigger moves thanks to having
Andersen and Nash on LTIR, but I think they'll stand pat for the most part and focus on getting two depth players having the best seasons of their careers.

Erne has 10 goals despite only playing 13 minutes a night and is a physical little bugger who could be great for the Leafs in the playoffs, especially if he's playing with Simmonds.

MIKE Reilly, gonna be weird with Morgan on the team, is a very solid top 6 two way d-man having the best season of his career despite being on Ottawa, and playing most frequently in the defensive zone. Definitely can be solid with Bogosian instead of Dermott and can handle a lot of defensive starts.

As much as I dislike the fan base I do hope this team wins the cup cuz id like to see Thornton, Spezza, Tavares, Simmonds, and Campbell to all get their rings.

Erne seems to more value than Engvall, so the Wings say know. But the Leafs like Engvall at centre, so the trade isn't really a fit. Spezza and Thornton hasn't been playing centre.

Yeah erne has played well and Engvall is less valuable, but he can still be a solid bottom 6 guy in the future for DET, and they should trade Erne while his value is at it's highest. As for the issue with the centre position I get that Spezza has played on the wing this year, but he still has taken the 3rd most face-offs on the team, and is winning them at 56%, so having him centring that 4th line with Simmonds and Erne only makes sense, since Spezza can be the playmaker for two solid goal scorers. Thornton I had at centre over Kerfoot because Kerfoot is legitimately bad at the draw and could actually be better as a wing with Thornton taking the draws. While he has done many this year, he is a career 54% on the draw.

Spezza has been a situational face off guy. Sometimes the PK, or when the face off dot match up suits him. Thornton just doesn't have the speed /mobility to play centre now.
