Starting Afresh in 21-22

Created by: Hammerwise
Team: 2021-22 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 13, 2021
Published: Apr. 15, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It really comes down to whether PHI can stop the regression of their youngsters: Hart, Lindblom, Myers, Sanheim, Patrick. All hit a wall this year. On paper, this is a very good team.
Bringing in solid, physical vets like Savard and Foligno, and youngsters in York (or Zamula), Frost and Allison.

Theres other options out there: Montour or Manson at 2RD, or Rittich, Elliot at 2G, or Calvert at 3LW.
I would look to move a big contract (JVR?) this year.
Not tearing it down, giving some of these youngsters another chance before guys like Foerseter, Wisdom, Brink, Wylie, etc... arrive.

Really nice to see recognition of the underlying issue in the Flyers situation, blowing it up would get absurd frankly, glad to see a more balanced approach

Hart posting a sv% fitting for the 80s for instance

An upgrade from Elliott to Mraz will help too

Yes, maybe and Philly has had him before. Really its double sided - Hart had a bad year, damaging his RFA payday, but it allows for a good veteran backup goalie. Theres alot available, but Mrazek, Rittich, and a few others will be there in that 2-3.5mil range

Mrazek is above the Rittich bracket

Possibly, depends on playoff showing...Theres plenty of suitable vet backup Goalies availbale in that 1.5-4mil range, from Bernier, Mrazek, Rittich, etc....

True but ulmark and mrazek are solid starters not just backups.

Culture is the problem with the Flyers. They are very talented but something is not right in the room. Blowing up the room seems to be the only way to go.
