Bottom 3 teams: Buffalo NJD and Anaheim
Ottawa, SJS, CBJ and Detroit are so tight in the standings, one game might make the difference between drafting 5th or 8th pre lottery
LAK and VAN with plenty of games in hand should finish with more points than this group

In that 5-8 slot hopefully Luke Hughes is available like his brother was a couple years ago. We take our future puck moving d man to make a formidable pairing with Seider

Between Wallinder, Johansson and McIsaac who’s our best bet top be number 2 LD? Or sign Werenski in a couple years...

Wallander can play either, but defenseman are always better on their strong side, it's not the same as a wing where being on the off side can be an advantage.

Depends on style of play, and rest of team.
But some d-man play LD or RD.
And not always dictated by how they shoot.
Wallinder plays RD.
Like TJ Brodie, Sami Vatanen...playing off-hand.

I know he has played there and CAN play there, but just digging the puck off the boards, lane coverage, gap control and line coverage alone, on defense, it is ALWAYS easier to play strong side.

Not always.
Depends on the player.

Hughes is probably gone but edvinsson is probably on the list if we pick 6 or 7. We probably sign a guy like oleksiak for 3 or 4 years to help the left. Piece it together as the kids grow up. Id expect cholo to get moved if we start seeing mcisaac and Johansson start to passhim on the depth chart.

This draft is a complete toss up but that’s a convincing answer that Hughes goes top 3. Hopefully Wings finally get that lotto number then. If we drafted first what would be your guys pick?
