That package isn't worth Giroux alone. Not to mention the fact that Myers has a team-friendly contract for what equates to scraps compared to what you are supposedly acquiring. Also with Ottawa's status as a bad team why would they ever trade their 2022 1st. Just unrealistic.

I am trying to figure out a package for Giroux. I figured, as a pending UFA, White + Greig is a fair offer. Perhaps I am missing a a 2nd. Zaitsev vs Ghost is a slight win for Philly. Zub and Myers is a wash. Perhaps a slight win for Ottawa but Zub will also sign a team friendly contract that should be longer term. In 2 years, myers will ask for at least 4M.

Ottawa gives up their 1st to acquire Foote and Killorn but get's a 1st back for a retained Killorn. Ottawa won,t be a contender but they won't be as bad next year. Basically they get Foote by accepting to move back a few positions in the draft. Sounds like a good deal for me. Very realistic.

As much as I like Giroux, I'm not sure it makes much sense to trade for him. If he hits free agency next year, and he hasn't fallen off, then I would definitely try and scoop him as a free agent.

Philly definitely isn't doing that btw, I'm just talking broadly about the idea.

Every single trade makes ottawa demonstrably worse.

OTT would reject every single one of these

Is your profile picture AVI? Lol

Theres no way this makes Ottawa worst. Get your head straight.

An aging Giroux is still better than white.

Myers is better than Zub and has experienc eplaying with Chabot.

Foote will be better than Zaitsev.

Ghost I don't care about.

What does Ott pay to make these upgrades:

1 replacable prospect (out of their big pool) who projects to be a gritty 3lw or a good 4th line center.

Move back a few spots in the first round next year.

Easy call.

I makes OTT better in the 2022 season, but worse afterwards.

If OTT was in a competive place I might consider this trade, but OTT is going to be entering their competitve window in 2022/23. A 35yo Giroux isnt going to be more than a 3rd liner at that point, and trending downwards

Zub > Myers, Zaitsev > Ghost.

In 2022/2023, I would rather have a 20yr Greig, 26yo White, 27yo Zub, 31yo Zaitsev

than 35yo Giroux, 30yo Ghost, 26yo Myers

G has a NMC and has said outright he would like to finish his career with the Flyers. Regardless, none of that would be appealing to Philly. Myers regressed this year, but is still a solid 2nd pair RHD and isn't likely to be traded. I could see Sanheim being moved before Myers as Philly has York and Zamula vying for a spot next year.
