Detroit currently doesn't need any more RHDs and a late 1st in 2022 and a 2nd in 2023 - a 2022 4th does even start to offset that awful contract his cap hit is just under $6M for the next 4 seasons. He isn't even of an upgrade over Stecher (Detroit's 3rd pair RD) to make it remotely worth while. Detroit passes.

I agree that he doesn't fit Detroit's system...

however I must say that Myers has been one of few things that have impressed me in VAN this year.

He's still not really 6M worthy, but he's been Vancouvers best defenseman for a number of consecutive games and I'd go as far as to say our best defenseman overall this year since Hughes has sucked big time defensively.

As such, as little sense as it makes for Detroit to take him, its equally senseless to pay to move our biggest minute eater and most important defensive guy. (I would disagree that he isn't an upgrade on Stecher, but that's a small gripe compared to an otherwise accurate statement)

Too many Nucks fans are caught up with his contract such that they don't notice the pretty decent effort he's put on the ice this year. I'd hand him 4.5m tomorrow if I had to redo the contract.

Meyers is as good as Hronek and he isn't going to get in Seider's way at all which leaves Stecher and Detroit isn't going to take on that contract for a player might be able to be a 3rd pair dman. Stecher fits in here and is playing really well in Detroit and honestly I don't think Meyers could beat him out. Even if Stecher regresses Detroit has Lindstrom who is a very solid defensive dman and would be fine as a 3rd pair dman which is about his celling. Now his cap hit is also under $1M and he will be played before Detroit brings in a 31yr old dman with a cap hit of $6M for the next 3 seasons. I'm sorry but I don't see Vancouver a positive return on Meyers especially to a team who doesn't need him. Technically Yzerman has still yet to take a cap dump in Detroit. Yes he was given a 2nd for Staal but at that time Detroit had only 2 NHL LHDs on the roster.

I don't think he has trade value either. Which is why I doubt such a trade would ever happen. I only really see us moving Loui's last year, and even then, a buyout is more logical.

Watching stecher myself, I know Myers is the better defender. even when myers wasn't good last year, he was still an improvement on Stech, and, while both players have been better this year, Myers is the true top 4.
Nonetheless, 3 years down Detroit won't be such an extreme rebuilder so they should only consider the one year dumps.

tldr: we shouldn't be looking to move myers at all since he is a positive asset to the teams success but negative on the trade board. Nucks fans are senseless for trying to dump him and seeing him dumped so frequently on this website by this fanbase isn't a great look.

I always liked myers and his floppy giraffe banging into everything kinda play. Hes looked good and bad since being in vancouver. If he was a LD i could talk myself into it but on the right he just doesn't add any value to detroit. He should have taken a little less money and stayed in peg really.

Yes Detroit probably should be open to more cap dumps and when I said that about Yzerman I wasn't saying it was my opinion it's just Yzerman hasn't taken on any on yet. He also hasn't given me any reason at all to doubt or second guess him.
