There literally doesn't exist money for the majority of teams to bring him in... What is Buffalo going to do with cap space in the middle of a deep rebuild, look at it?

I bet when Eichel gets traded its not going to be for as much of a return as everyone on this site seems to think. This offer is fair value but a lot are extreme overpay.

Agreed. It looks like nearly everyone is overlooking the seriousness of the herniated disc issue. Really hoping Eichel makes a full recovery, but hoping doesn't make it so.

The only reason I think this one doesn't get it done is I don't see any of the pieces being sent to Buffalo having "Elite" upside. I agree that it probably won't be as much as people think it'll be though. Last night someone told me they though "York Farabee a 2021 1st and 2022 1st doesn't even get the conversation started" lol

Exactly! I'm sorry but when a guy has a back issue plus has made it very clear he doesn't want to be there anymore, his value is diminished significantly. BUF is not going to get fair value for Eichel or Reinhart.

It's somewhere in the middle, I think some people who think he is worth the blood of Christ are asking way too much, but y'all are undervaluing him too.
-As for the herniated disk, it is a serious injury but these guys have the best medical staff and trainers on the planet, and he is 24 years old. I am not too worried about him recovering well.
-In regards to not wanting to play there anymore, I mean what did you expect. He is a competitive player on the Buffalo Sabres, it is pretty fair to assume that most people in his situation would be saying the same thing. It isn't like he isn't a top 20 player in hockey anymore just because he wants to leave Buffalo, he will still get a haul

Take back salary

I guess, but you're talking about what would theoretically be the biggest trade to happen in the NHL in 20 years with another team sending back an absolutely massive package. If a small amount of retention is asked as an absolutely necessary condition for a trade of this size to go through. Buffalo retaining a small amount of salary won't be a dealbreaker

They do have good medical staffs but it seems like Eichel and the Sabres medical staff are not on the same page. So much so that a grievance may be filed. And obviously he is a good player, when healthy, but as of right now we can not claim he is a top 20 player.

1.25 isnt a small amount and it would 100% be a deal breaker

Have fun keeping a disgruntled player and continuing to lose. I'm sure that will bode well for guys like Dahlin n the future as well.

Nobody is saying you won't get anything but expecting to get something close to the equivalent of 4 1st round picks is crazy.
