Not good enough to take on Eriksson's dead cap. Detroit declines.

VAN is not moving Podkolzin. Dallas would much rather keep Lindell.

I disagree. Dumping Staal got them second. Eriksson's only $300k more expensive in terms of cap. Also Eriksson's actual salary is smaller than Staal's, provided he's dealt after the 2021 draft.

Imo the 2nd is fair in terms of comparison. Karlsson+3rd is an added bonus due to him being a tad worse as a player compared to Staal, but nonetheless both of them were complete cap dumps.

I don't know what more could DET demand to make it more reasonable, based on precedents.

      Most likely true.

I'm a Stars fan. I think they would be perfectly content with keeping Lindell for years to come, but also if they were to consider dealing, it'd have to be now as his NMC kicks in next year.

Personally I think Miller provides them more in the areas where they're currently weak - namely play driving and offensive play in general.

Staal played every game and 20 mins+ a night at that. Apples to oranges. 2 2nd round picks (Vancouver's 21 2nd as one of them) is the starting price.

Also, Karlsson is a C prospect at best, he'll probably never even sniff the NHL. That's probably a throw away.

Imo should VAN go after Reinhart, Podkolzin is your best bet to get him. BUF is in dire need of a more established prospect.

Sure, two seconds seems fair...not really far from what I suggested here honestly.

That's assuming he's not dealt somewhere at that point.

He is still a free agent at the end of next year . He wants to come home , we want him home. If you can find a team willing to give up anything for one year service I suggest you jump at it.

Canucks need to pay petterson and Quinn plus add 5 other players to their team to fill out a roster. Their cap crunch is real and wings can exploit it. It will cost more cause staal was also coming in and playing significant minutes while loui will ride the taxi squad.

Next year's 2nd, this year's 3rd and a good prospect that will help us more then the player you mentioned

Isn't really that far from what I suggested earlier.

Depends all on the prospect though.

No, you weren't way off, I just said what was posted wasn't good enough. The key is that at least one of those 2nd rd picks needs to be Vancouver's 21 2nd, since it's higher than the Dallas 2nd. The additional can either be the Dallas 2nd this year, or Vancouver's 22 2nd (which I'm sure they'd prefer)

Well it also changes a 2023 3rd to a 2021 3rd and a better prospect. I didn't say you were far off or bonkers for suggesting what you did, just needed a little tweaking was all

I disagree with your Dallas trade. A Lindell package is fine, but I'm not sure if I want to give up two 2nd Round Picks in addition a 22-year old who played very well in the AHL this year & could be a very cheap replacement for Cogliano or Comeau's roster spot. A bit too rich for my blood

To be fair 2023 3rd is most likely more valuable than the 2021 3rd so I don't see a problem there.

I like it this year since it's a crap shoot. A guy taken in the a3rd round could have first round talent and nobody will know. Want as many darts to throw at the dartboard this season

He said he wants to play near the west coast. There's many teams there, starting from Cali teams to Vegas and Seattle...even Arizona might suffice, not to mention CGY and EDM.

Wouldn't surprise me too much if one of them makes an offer for the guy.

Understandable. Honestly I wasn't sure whether this is an overpayment or not, but I seriously want Miller in Dallas lol.

Mascherin has played quite well in AHL this year, and thus imo he'd be a nice trade asset. I personally don't see a slot for him in DAL NHL team, but I hope I'm wrong.
