Vancouver is on fire

Description
Vancouver is a tire fire and Horvat wants to win (yes he likely means in VAN). A positive with going after Horvat is that his current deal fits within a Parise buyout that allows for more flexibility to keep Dumba.

I’d spend big assets on EP but I think an offer sheet is the only way to get him out.

That tire fire beat your asses down last year in the playoffs. Want to talk about a tire fire how about Parise not dressing for the playoffs or the long long long contracts of Suter and Parise?

Well, there are definitely some underlying issues here.

You'll have $2m cap space and lots of open roster spots after next season. Parise's buyout is smoke and mirrors for the cap hit.

I’m aware. But Dumba (and Horvat in this hypothetical) come off the books in 2 years. But regardless of whether the buyout is smoke and mirrors or not, it does look likely.

I still think that parise and the front office will go for mutua contract termination. When byfuglien did it with the jets the jets didn’t have any cap hit from his 7.6m contract. I would expect similar with a parise type deal, unless the league has said explicitly it would keep the cap hit in the situation during the last bargaining agreement.

Hey just wondering would the Wild accept a swap of JT Miller and a pick for Eriksson-Ek and Greenway. Since you suggested a dumb trade here I have the right to offer one myself wink

That’s the best case too but there is 6 mil owed to Parise next year standing in the way. He’s made enough where he can decide whether the money is worth being able to play again, and that is the only leverage the team has.

Don't care if we do, we overachieved this year anyway, most Wild fans expected us to be where you are now before the season started. We got where we are now this year because of Kaprizov and Talbot, simple as that.

We're not ready to be competitors just yet, we're close, but still a year or two away.

Funny thing is, you're farther away then even we are. 😂

I don’t actually think that’s a terrible trade, just one the Wild probably don’t entertain. Vancouver and Minnesota actually aren’t that different in that they’ve got some high probability young high end talent but the difference is that management is running the teams in different directions.

MN would need to get through year 2 with 10 FWDs, 6D, and 2 goalies.

I realize he’s the centerpiece in VAN and staying right where he is. But let’s say we’re in a world where he demands a trade. What’s the right level?
