I would play Sorokin, he's been better than Varlamov, and is 3-0 (all the NYI wins)

On topic: I agree with @buffalobillsfan17...play Sorokin.

Trotz has already said Zajac's next man up. I'm guessing Leo stays on line one and Zajac slots in next to Palms and Pageau. I agree with the others at this point they may as well ride Sorokin as long as they can.

Honestly I think Trotz may go back to Varley in game one against the Bruins. Sorokin played pretty well, but he did let in 3 and a couple of them looked avoidable, but we'll see what happens.

Trotz will lose the room if he goes back to Varlamov. Sorokin didn't steal game 6 , but he made a couple of huge saves that prevented the pens from gaining momentum, like the save on malkin on a breakaway. It's his net now unless he has multiple bad games.

True, like I said Sorokin didn't play badly but we've watched him return to Varlamov over and over again even after a Sorokin shut out. Varley hasn't played badly all year he just goes through phases where he lets in a crap load of weak goals and then he's back to his normal solid self. In my opinion I don't care which one starts they're both qualified goaltenders.

Varlamov is a very good goaltender, but two games in a row he let in soft goals which deflated the team. Varlamov doesn’t deserve to play right now and the team knows that. The playoffs is a mental grind as it is, the team shouldn’t have to worry about their coach scratching the MVP of the 1st round, again. It’s a fireable offense to start varlamov.

Like I said Soroking didn't play badly in Game 6, but he also didn't steal the show either. He made a couple of big saves during the game, but we've seen Varley make some big saves all year long as well. Game 5 was a completely different story. Sorokin was the only reason we won that game, stole it to be honest because the team didn't deserve it. Like I said, I don't care which one starts as long as they get the job done. I don't have a horse in the race.

The one thing to remember is that varly dominates the Bs and against a team like that varlys style might be better than sorokins (the bigger goalie as opposed to freakishly athletic)

The last two times varlamov played against the Bruins he was nothing special. Sorokin actually played well the last time he played against Bruins, stood on his head.

I can’t believe this is a conversation lol - sorokin carried the isles in game 1, 3 , and 5. MVP of the series by far - and we’re talking about starting varlamov. Not only would trotz lose the room but you risk sorokin wanting out this offseason (he has arb rights) because it would cost him money and he earned the right to start this next series. This conversation is as bizarre as putting Ross johnston in for barzal.

I didnt say to start varlamov. You wont see me say that bc i dont believe its the right thing to do. I just made a point that varlys style is better for the Bs than sorokins, doesnt mean i dont think they should start sorokin.

I still disagree with that. The Bruins are a faster team with hall and rielly, I think that’s a better matchup for sorokin

Imho thats a reach. Their team is still built and still plays the same way. But we can agree to disagree.
