Sharks aren’t selling low on Meier and Butcher is actually negative value coming back. What I would take for Meier starts with a top prospect or a devils first, can’t offer that, you can’t get him.

Devils don’t want or need Timo Meier or his contract.
We should overpaid middle-six wingers when our cheap ones will be just as good.

Not enough for Meier.

The Sharks should be willing to listen to offers from NJD for Meier. He and Nico have some serious chemistry and Meier would be that top-line guy for him for years to come.

Having said that, enough of these low-ball offers. I've yet to see a legitimate offer from NJD fans for Meier that would make sense for SJ. A deal for Meier MUST include either:

Mercer
Severson
NJD 2021 1st (not the Isles' 1st)

Nothing else within Meier's trade value range interests SJ. Meier's a young PROVEN 30-goal scorer who had a bad year last year on a bad Sharks team and he's only just about to enter into his prime. NJD has to be ready to give up something of value not just to them but of value to SJ to acquire him.

NJ should want absolutely nothing to do with that contract

I think we are good. Most of the Meier to NJD deals are coming from Sharks fans. We have the cap space, but there are plenty of better options — either from more cap-tight teams or teams that want our rookies/prospects.

I do not think Severson, our 1st pick or Mercer would ever be considered from Devils in a Meier trade. If we are moving any of those pieces, it would be for young top-4 d-man, as we have a lot of young forwards with promising futures already in pipeline.

Devils are not the team to target a Meier move. Maybe try Edmonton, Boston, Arizona...seems like there are a bunch of teams looking for wingers.

Please check a few pages of armchair GMs for NJD. It's literally FILLED with Meier trades from NJD fans, so contrary to your hate boner for everything Sharks, lots of fairminded Devils fans have interest in Meier. And if your fandom for NJD was truly greater than your fill to rag on everything Sharks, you'd want Hischier to have Meier as his guy who he really enjoys playing with and can produce the best results with for years to come.

I don’t have a view either way - don’t like or dislike.
Don’t even really think about them much.

I just don’t think Meier is a good fit for Devils.

I can see a bunch from Devils fans, but they are mostly offering guys like Andreas Johnsson and Will Butcher. Often the biggest piece for San Jose is the NYI 1st this year.
There are also about 6-7 from you Cheech in the last few weeks. Others offering Simek to Devils.

No worries, I'm sorry as well... doesn't excuse my harshness/tone, but fwiw just caught me in a rough day and been super irritable all day, hope you can forgive me for that and we can just respectfully agree to disagree on Meier. Didn't add you to the ignore list (I've only done that to bcarlo and his burner). Nothing against you of course or the Devils (who I like).

No worries. Am all good. If Devils needed a winger, I am sure I would be taking different look at Meier. But would rather kick the tires on Sharks d-men.
