It was either Rangers or back to Harvard for a year and then Rangers. Signing with Calgary or Carolina was never in the cards.

This is meaning what if he actually did want to sign. I'm pretty sure everyone has already heard he would only go to the Rangers.

Rejecting Carolina may be the worst decision that Fox has ever made, though he obviously was going to be a superstar no matter where he ended up. He'd probably be the Norris winner and the Canes would be the overwhelming Cup favorites. Here's how I think the pairings would've been if Fox signed:

Slavin-Hamilton
Pesce-Fox
De Haan-Hakanpaa
Bean

(Yes, I think the De Haan salary dump doesn't happen if Fox signs)
