Offseason moves and seattle

Created by: Lightman13
Team: 2021-22 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: May 29, 2021
Published: May 29, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This would open up more skill and youth for the wilds forward group, solve Seattle expansion and not cripple the team long term from a cap perspective as parises money comes off the books.

I still think they’ll opt for mutual contract termination with him and he’ll try and play somewhere else. When the jets did it with big buff they got his cap space off the books, but with parise’s retroactive punishment in the last cba, not sure if there would be any such luck for the team.

Also the rask buyout is dependent on Rossi’s health and ability to play in the nhl right away.

Updated as trade. Also would expect to flip bonino in the next season to open up a roster spot for dewar and beckman to get some nhl playing time and open up cap space for upcoming offseason.

Probably short about 1.5m or so on Garland.

I like the root of this trade concept, but I think the Wild are getting the two more valuable players. I would think that 3rd has to be the lower of the two 1sts for ARZ to say yes.

That’s the type of feedback I appreciate. Constructive.

Could I entice you with a shiny victor task and a 2nd and 4th instead of the 1st? 1 year of a servicable center if a little overpaid for his role

. . . and I was going to say the better of the two picks -- are we saying the same thing?

They are probably only separated by maybe 5 spots anyways, so pretty much. Usually teams with two picks like to keep the better one.

I gave it an update. How’s it look now?

Nice stuff here OP - this is super intriguing.

I have a somewhat bold idea to change this slightly -- instead of signing Bonino, put together a package of picks/prospects for Strome on NYR. Sure he's UFA, but it gives breathing room to Rossi. Just a thought.

Possibly, the thing that would make strome less appealing is the following season the cap is tight from buying out parise jumping significantly. Whatever would happen with that would be the trick. Plus Guerin really wants to start developing from within. This setup would establish the core for the next few years and letting ufas drop off while the prospects are ready to play. So as they drop off over the next 4 years Marat and khovanov and whoever comes into their own places.

I just don’t think this trade makes much sense for the Coyotes. If they were to trade Dvo/Garland it would be so they really can tank for Wright next season. Getting Dumba on the other hand would be more of a “trying to be somewhat competitive” move. I just don’t think it’s there. I would say that the teams could (and should) try to work something out surrounding Dumba for Schmaltz, but outside of that I don’t really see a fit unless it’s for significant futures
