Description

Flames Fans how do we feel about these changes? Attempted to be realistic so see descriptions below.

Gio - With limited choices I think Seattle would take the vet for 1 year. Calgary cannot pay the price to protect him.

Monahan - Part of the core change. Seems inevitable after this year. Hard to judge value. Monahan hasn't scored well in 2 years. Thomas had a disappointing year and Dunn will be lost in expansion. 4-5 Dman + 3rd Liner for Top 6 C ? Risk on both ends with Monahan bounce back potential and Thomas/Dunn's development.

Gaudreau - As recently proven, regular season means very little. Style of play just doesn't equate to what is needed this time of year. Reinhart essentially has 1 year left with him being able to go to arbitration for a 1 year deal taking him to UFA. Buffalo may need to rebuild if Eichel gets out and Gaudreau could bring a haul if flipped for future assets which is not what Calgary wants right now for Gaudreau. Buffalo does this to maximize return for Reinhart who wont be part of the second rebuild. Could be a 3-way trade to get Buffalo the future assets they want. Jokiharju is added to balance the difference between Reinhart and Gaudreau.

Hickey - Take a small fee for a camp dump with space not used. Could overpay for a bottom 6 player or backup 1 year deal instead. Need the space for the following year of RFA's.

So basically for 5 years Reinhart only gets a $500,000 raise. Yeah that's not happening. For 5-6 years Reinhart will come in at least at $6,500,000 if not closer to $7,000,000.

I think the quick replies from others speak for themselves. No trade is going to be equal value. Calgary is going to have to take a slight downgrade in hopes the team results are better.

Could you explain that figure? Every possible cap comparable for his P/Game and G/Game is in the 5 - 6 range. Burakovsky is the most recent and his was 4.9 but he is above that to me.
