I don't think the Oilers are interested in trades with retention longer than a year. Already so much dead cap.

Would need way more than a 2nd and Bear for Seattle to consider Neal.

That is a lot going to Nashville for a 30 year old D-man with 6 years left and flat cap expected for 5 years.

I feel like the 1st makes it an overpayment for dumping Koskinen and picking up Ellis (due to age considerations). Koskinen only has a year left and could be a decent backup to Saros next season while Ingram gets his feet back under him in the AHL and Askarov continues to get time in the KHL. Lavoie and Broberg are both really good prospects.

All fair points.

Could honestly keep Kassian in this scenario since there is the cap space. Trade Kahun or something and keep Kassian, or keep Benson in the ahl for one more year (though I'd like to see him get NHL action next season).

You're probably right on Neal, but I don't think it's way more. And EDM has the assets in this build to add another 2nd or 3rd or change it to a 1st. So the options are there.

Ellis is a very good defenseman that is a true top pairing RHD and should be for at least the next 3 seasons (half the deal). I don't feel like he is a player that will regress quickly, but that could be my bias. I think he'll have longevity to his game that will take him close to 40 before he retires. Could be wrong though. And I understand it's a lot to give up, but I do feel like that move makes EDM a much better team. Could drop Broberg and some picks in his place, but that may not be as enticing for NSH.

Why are you so set on getting rid of Khaira?
What did he do to offend you?

I originally had the deal at Lavoie + 1st for Ellis, but some more was needed on the EDM side per many comments. So add half of Broberg's value as part of the Ellis deal. Then it's Koskinen + half Broberg's value for Cousins. At least that was the basic idea when I was coming up with it. I'm not the most confident in the makeup of this deal, but I think it has potential for both clubs. Could see it ironed out to where both sides are happy in the end though.

Nothing.

Cousins is more effective than Khaira, and they need the cap space for next season to resign Nurse + Puljujarvi. I think he's a relatively easy player to trade and his role can be filled by younger/cheaper players.

In general that's way too much of an overpayment for Ellis and Cousins.
The Oilers just got to a good place with their defensive prospects - they're not trading away Broberg for an older player like Ellis. Players like Broberg are going to be their defensive future.
As for Bear going to Seattle - I would think that they would trade Bear and get something for him, before giving him away for nothing.

I'm also quite concerned with the number of concussions he had last year - it's not a good sign.
