Hoping Holland Figures It Out

Created by: CementHead27

Description
I think it’s safe to say two season in and we have been underwhelming. I can’t put my thumb on it. Holland has made one really bad trade (Marino) and one pretty bad trade (Neal). Now there have been some decent signings and I like the last two drafts but it’s still a little worrying since I thought we’d be in a better spot. Tippett is a good coach but I can’t stand having the two big guns on the same line. That can’t happen next year.

This team would have a balance of youth and experience. Staal, Getzlaf, Coleman, and Saad have all lifted the cup and they can all still play (especially Saad). We don’t sacrifice anyone who’s young and any good in an unnecessary trade. It’s also worth the buyout to dump Neal and Koskinen. So is the Seattle deal enough to take Bear? Would Dubas take Kassian?

How were the Marino and Neal trades bad? Marino clearly told the team he wasn't going to sign here so Holland got what he could. Neal for Lucic was a great trade Oilers got 19 goals from Neal last year, and he has a much better contract to buyout. Losing the 3rd was a **** choice by the league with prorating.

Thinking you have to "dump" Bear is insane especially when you go ahead a paid Ceci 3.4M

Ottawa declines. We're pretty good for pivots: Norris, White, Pinto, Tierney, (maybe) Stutzle, Nick Paul, Clark Bishop... would prefer any of them in the line up over adding Turris.

Ceci had a very good year in Pittsburgh and has proven he can play in this league. Bear hasn’t

I agree with the first comment, it's simply not fair to fault Holland for making the best of a few bad situations. I'll add that I don't think moving Turris is a top concern for the Oilers. If he doesn't make the team next season, most of his salary can be buried in Bakersfield. His cap hit would be $525,000, for one season.

I know he’s a favourite out there and thought there’d be interest if the price was cheap

I’d be fine with him as a 4th line centre. I just thought Ottawa would have some interest for a cheap price

Kassian for free isn't a gift let alone this, yes that's what TO needs Kassian winning pedigree

Considering you have a soft little team that gets pushed around you should be jumping for joy to have him

he'd be one expensive 4th liner, that's for sure.

This is tough, Bear isn’t a dump by any stretch. And would immediately be selected if exposed.
Russell is 7D max and playing Broberg on the top pair after he struggled in the SHL is tough.

You have an 11 million dollar winger that doesn’t score when it matters, but two million for a depth player is too much ?

Says the fan of a team that went 0-4 in a series by simply being pushed around
