G and Coots swap salaries. And there’s Goodrow coming off. Should be enough for Seth Jones. One or two trades or a buyout is plenty then for the RFAs.

Giroux is not taking under $7 mil as he is still one of the Flyers most productive players.

Really?
Patrick is nothing more than a player dump (he is a 3rd line F at best, and has past health issues).
Ghost is very weak defensively and nothing more than a cap dump at this point.
The Jackets will receive a much better package for Jones and/or Korpi that will better suit their needs than this.

The interest in Patrick on these threads alone shows he’s not just a player dump. And Ghost absolutely has value, considering if someone eats 2 mill on him, he becomes 2 mill for someone for only 2 years. Plus a solid D prospect and 13OA. Can’t imagine that offer getting topped without a guaranteed new contract coming with him.

We will have to disagree here. If he wants to stay in an organization he has been for over a decade and on a roster that is entering a window, I think he takes less. They could also offer more term knowing a rebuild would be coming after the fact.

So by your logic, Ovi should take $5 mil on his next contract...good players aren't going to cut their salary in half just because you want them to.

Players in their mid 30s will take term over a short term higher average per deal. I’m saying you could get Ovie for less if you offered him cash over 5 years instead of 2. You’re also kidding yourself if you think Ovie would take 12 mill from an org with the cap space and no SC shot over say 9 mill from a team with a legit shot at a cup.

No, you are kidding yourself if you think high end players aren't going to take what they think they are worth. G will likely want term and $ based off his production.
