Something like this anyway.. 30M next year to sign Fox, Hertl/Zibanejad and give raises to Kakko/Kravtsov, still an additional 10M the next year for Lafraniere, by then I'm hoping Berard and Jones break into the lineup replacing Forbort (or another LHD vet D) and Reaves if he wants to much in FA

San Jose's gonna want a 1st in a Hertl trade, especially if he comes with an extension

San Jose will want a 1st. Maybe swap Tarmo with that and give the Rangers Josef Korenar
Also that Vegas trade is kind of a yikes

Strome is probably worth alot more, but he's also a cap casualty.. I honestly dont know what his value is lol.. I'm thinking something like the Gaborik trade where the Rangers trade for some lesser NHL players who can contribute and change the team.

Solid blueprint but you'll have even more money without that Strome trade. Also a nitpick here but Will Cuylle probably breaks into the lineup before Brett Berard, because of his traits and his career path.

probably likely but I was hoping with Chytil we could get away with not doing that as he is a 1st round pick and a 21 year old center under team control.

We could trade him for futures, but then we would need to pay bottom six guys in FA who likely would cost more?

But this ACGM has $11M in cap space though? It's not necessary to exile him as a cap casualty.

I forgot about Cuylle, Robertson could also break in defensively too or Schneider in 2 years etc. It's a blueprint of how to not give up too much skill while also adding some north/south players, size and grit.

If the difference between Hertl and Chytil was just Georgiev and a B prospect you probably wouldnt be making the trade to begin with

well the following year they dont sign him to play 3C for what he'll want and how many wingers the Rangers have, so its more for the following year even tho its not really a "cap casualty" I guess? lol

Looking at this ACGM for 2021-22, couldn't you just keep Sean Kuraly? (Play him on the 4th line for 2021-22 with Barron at LW, and promote him to the third line in 2022-23)

likely true, so Chytil and 15. I actually like Chytil alot but I just think we have so many players with the same skill set, who play kind of the same way (east/west, flashy, etc)

I honestly didn't even think of that.. so Strome for futures? maybe the Rangers can do both, get guys who can help take the next step, while also trading guys not in the future plans (Strome if they get a top 6 center) for futures or prospects.

You get the idea tho.

If the Rangers are still sellers at the deadline I could see it. But considering that the Rangers are (hopefully) going all in, it might be in our best interest to keep Strome for the playoff push. Cup contenders are the ones who lose free agents. I don't think you'll acquire an instant replacement for Strome in 2022-23 if you trade him in 2021-22.

Really appreciated this thread by the way! Was very refreshing to see this, as well as your Eichel one, after seeing some of the worst logic from another Rangers fan earlier this afternoon lol

So are you suggesting keep Strome and reassess at the TDL next year?

I just think someone like Hertl is a far better option (cost mostly in money + assets) than Eichel is especially with the concern over health and whats going on there. Rangers need more N/S players, and Hertl is a better two way version of Strome who can win face offs. It all depends on price obviously but he's CLEARLY going to cost less than Eichel in both cap and assets. If you can have two 60P centers (look what Strome did with Panarin) with the Rangers firepower on the wings just with Panarin and Buchnevich alone (not counting leaps that Lafranere, Kakko and Kravtsov hopefully take) with a young defense and Shesterkin and money to spend or assets to trade for changing the bottom 6 its just a much better diverse roster than adding Eichel who is more skill and costing us alot of skill in the process. It also allows us to keep alot of the "core" (hopefully) together for years to come.

Vegas could probably trade Reaves with more of the younger forwards that should be pushing to the team next season but we can't take Strome because of cap and it likely would not cost him anyways so you could trade him to someone else.

updated with keeping Strome til next deadline, and signed Goodrow to add some muscle since I no longer had Reaves.

Kravtsov, straight up.
Nah, just kidding.

If Vegas wants to re-sign Martinez, and they probably do, they're going to need some more cap space because this is his one chance to cash in some. He fits on the team so well and the defense has looked so great this season that I think they will definitely try.

If that's the case then the cap space for Martinez would probably be worth more than what they could get back and I could see just a pick doing it and obviously not a first or second.

It might be a better deal that paying FA price for Goodrow 🤔
