Lol. Why would the Pens take on Marner’s 11M contract?? And retain some of Zucker’s salary too?? And trade draft capital away??

Like every team in this flat cap, the Pens are very tight on the Salary cap. We probably can’t sign all of our RFA and UFA without moving a contract too. Why do u think they do this??

To move Marner in this flat cap period, is gonna be tough, almost impossible, unless the Leafs take a major loss.

I'm going to be honest, the trade was originally this except you take off the 1st and we give you back Hallander or Abramov LOL. I pitched to this server I'm in for hockey and everyone basically said Toronto was getting fleeced in the deal so I reverted it. To be fair, I think any trade with a player like Marner especially with his cap hit is hard to gage, so I hope you give me a bit of leniency there lol. Zucker's retain was tough but the way I saw it is that he only has 2 more years left, 1 after next season and with Letang coming off the books it wouldn't be too much of a bullet to bite. I also didn't think you guys had that many pending contracts esp since I don't see Malkin playing more than another 1 or 2 years before going to the KHL. I figured between him and Letang, a ton of money would be available within the next 2 seasons.

Lol. Pens said they are gonna extend Geno and Letang. Fully entend to keep the core together. In every article. Every quote. Even if not, Marner for Guentzel, Zucker, Marino, DeSmith and a 1st is crazy. You’re delusional my man.

Leafs get 4 players.(for 1). Two, top 6 wings. One top pairing RHD, only 24 years old, plays 20 plus minutes a night. And a goalie, that is a proven, very capable NHL back-up/ 1B goalie, that has a very cheap contract. And they get a 1st round pick..lol.

Basically more players than Edmonton got for Gretzky. The Eric Lindros trade; The most lopsided trade in NHL history. 6 players and a 1st round pick for 1 player. U almost got there..lol.

And they retain on Zuckers contract too. Just to help the leafs out alittle more.

And guess what, the trade fills out the Leafs roster, exactly what they need. What a joke.

Marner never had a 40 goal season. Guentzel has (26 goals; Marner’s career high). Guentzel is better defensively. Is Marner better offensively, yes. But Guentzel is a better goal scorer. And Marner gets paid 5M more per season..lol.

He’s not 5M a season better. Not even close.

Go look at the previous page to this posts page. See what a realistic leafs fan thinks. Marner and Holl for Guentzel. That’s the title of the post. And a realistic offer.

And I doubt the Pens even do that. Marner’s contract is too much. Pens can’t take it on for 5M more than Guentzel. Hes not worth it.
