Description
Imo the team looks really well, I like the idea of Marchessault with Malkin, and Saad with Sid. We bring in Kassian for a big guy that can hit and Deslauries for the same reason. Oleksiak is a guy we should've kept, big guy that can play the body when needed. Also Hakanpa is a good guy with a big body as well. Marchessault is like guentzel, although we trade guentzel for Fluery and Marchessault. Fluery can lead us to one more cup and can mentor Jarry along the way as well.

I don't think Zucker and Bjorkqvist are worth a 1st round pick

Vegas won’t have much interest in trading Fleury at all honestly, but definitely not with retention.

While I’ll admit that Guentzel is slightly better than Marshy, why would Vegas do this? They know Marshy fits with the team. They’ve seen him and he’s a fan favorite. I could care less about whatever goalie keeps trying to get sent back in these trades. Neither of them is really that good, that’s why 98 of 100 have the Pens trying to get Fleury.

I’m not sure they are going to move either goalie, but if they were going to I think they’ll move Lehner. Foley likes fleury too much.

Kassian is on a bad deal though. What's your counter, Kassian and two 2nds?

Instead of a 2nd how about a 4th. And then instead of half retension you do 2,500,000 retension?

Not even close. Zucker's contract isn't exactly appetizing, he has 2 years left at $5.5mil and had 3rd line production rates last year. At 29, that is concerning and that contract has a lot of risk to it. At most you're looking at a 3rd and not even in the ballpark with a 1st or multiple 2nds.

Did you read anything of what I said lol. Vegas probably won’t trade Fleury at all, and they won’t do ANY retention period. We’re not in the position to hold any salary

What's your counter for a zucker for kassian trade then? Cause kassian deal is worse than Zucker's. And zucker can get up to 40-50 points, he just didnt fit in PIT

I've tried explaining this several times, maybe this will be the one to make it make sense: If the Kings have: Anderson, Bjornfot, Pettersson, and Maata which of those look like a top-line LD?

I'd be up for another deal like Edmonton made with Calgary for the Lucic/Neal swap (until the NHL did their BS pro-rating to give Calgary the pick but hopefully we're done with pandemic disruptions).

Say Zucker + 4th as a base. Conditional 2nd the following year if Zucker scores 20G + 50P.

Typo. Kassian + 4th for Zucker. Oilers add a 2nd the following year of Zucker hits 20G and 50P.

Zucker's Deal is worse than Kassian's. At 3.2 mil he's maybe a mil over paid, I wouldn't want Zucker unless it's for Neal straight up.

In order:
Pens say hard no to this, they are looking at UFA to bring in a veteran goalie, Guentzel will not be moved unless the return literally blows us out of the water
Kings trade isnt awful provided that the Kings are looking for back end up from a bottom 4 guy at best, dont think we get a third and fourth, one or the other.
The Kassian trade is just not going to happen the way you got it constructed.
Seattle is fine for the most part though I would forsee the Pens giving up Zucker in this regard
Anaheim trade is whatever

If you have both the Kassian and BTanev contracts on your roster at the start of the season you have to forfeit the entire year sorry 🤷‍♂️

That's a really interesting VGK trade and it's not getting enough credit for being original and compelling around here as per usual

He's not worth a whole lot coming coming off of a bad year with that contract at that age with a flat cap. From the Oilers end everything points to "don't do it" unless we're covering some risk in terms of a cap dump or making additional compensation performance based.

I'd say he came off of a year with malkin dragging zucker down with him.

You can speculate as to why he had a bad season but the end result is he has a high paying contract at 29 years old, GMs will be hesitant to take that betting on a bounce back.

But IF he doesn't fit the team, he won't bounce back and you're stuck with a big contract.

The two reasons he wasnt as good this year is because of malone dn his fit with the team. As soon as we got him from the wild he was doing great on SIDS line. Ever since malkin has dropped off, zucker has to. Coincidence, I think not

That furthers the point he's overpaid on that contract. I mean the Oilers are one of the few teams that can play him with a Crosby quality centre but a guy making $5.5mil should be able to drive some of his own offence. An "off" year for Malkin was still 50th in P/G for NHL forwards (1st line production).
