That Eichel trade is horrible for us. We are literally selling the farm IMO. Also Ottawa declines

So selling the farm includes Dube who might be a top 6 player, Wolf who has no guarantee of making the show, and a 12th pick, and then swapping out Tkachuk for a top 8 player in the game???

The hell you talking about man. Eichel is generational.

Even though he’s the better prospect, Zary is more expendable than Wolf for us right now. And if we’re including Dube in the deal I’d go down to Monahan instead of Tkachuk. If Tkachuk’s in it we steadfastly refuse to add all of our other best assets. Monahan+Zary+12oa+Dube is a pretty solid haul. Better than Ottawa got for Karlsson lol

I am not trying to be mean but once you switch out Monahan for Tkachuk Buffalo needs to trade with someone else. switch prospects around or drop some prospects or do not make the trade.

I mean, if Tkachuk’s part of it, you’re only getting one additional top piece (Zary, 12o, Dube) imo and then maybe a lesser piece or two. Tkachuk’s value to the Flames is enormous, and Eichel doesn’t replace any of the heart, energy, or leadership Tkachuk brings. I think a more futures emphasized package would work better for Buffalo anyway, and Monahan’s a good filler to step in and prevent the Sabres from burning out Cozens like they did to Mittelstadt, and then deal in a year and a half for more assets, top 6 centres always have value and if they’re smart he’ll have the most value at that TDL. This won’t be a quick turn around for Buffalo if Eichel’s gone, that basically signals a full restart on the rebuild.

I think @Alfie11 is correct.
If the Sabres could get Tkachuk, and 2021 1st round pick (CGY) for Jack it would be close to fair.
Maybe the Flames would need to add a later pick, but the asset exchange is reasonable.

All that being said @Alfie11 Buffalo is loaded with left handed shots so while the trade may be fair it does not fill Buffalo's biggest needs RW.
I suppose Buffalo could be pushed into playing left handed shots at RW:

Tkachuk Reinhart Skinner
Olofsson Cozens Bjork
Asplund Mittelstadt Thompson
Girgensons Ruotsalainen Okposo
