Those are the kind of dollars Hamilton would need to come here, methinks

I think it’s all in time, do what you got to do to get Hamilton and even in 3 years trade him and retain. But I think there’s a 3 year window here to do everything possible to go over the top and hopefully hang a banner and then firesale and bottom out. Wheeler retire and deal scheifele before his contract is up, and deal Hamilton and whoever else and bottom out and start again. Just an opinion, damn just noticed it’s just 3 years left on scheifele, the pay him or trade him for value, closing fast.

Weather or not it’s the smart move, Scheifele isn’t going anywhere. He was the first draft pick in Jets 2.0 history and they have been building around him since then. They have literally said he’s gonna be the captain when wheeler retires. Knowing this organization there no chance they trade him. I think as long as Hellebuyck is in his prime they should be making a run every year.

Ya I’m scared of next contract, and refusal to buy heavies Or agitators, still see a lot of the same issues against mtl, that were there against Vegas. Just one frustrating end to a rather hopeful thought, after the sweep of Edmonton.

The timing is tricky, with the expansion draft protected list having to be submitted by July 17, expansion draft/Seattle RFA/UFA signings July 21, and league-wide free agency starting on July 28. You could have the possibility of DeMelo selected by Seattle and Hamilton signed by Seattle before free agency begins; or DeMelo taken by the Kraken on the 21st and Hamilton signing somewhere other than Winnipeg on the 28th (there is no early-period UFA negotiation window in the new CBA)

If the objective is to just get rid of DeMelo then the approach works. If the plan is to replace DeMelo with Hamilton then you are rolling the dice.

That’s not a for sure tho and the expansion draft is before free agency.

You keep DeMelo even if you sign Hamilton.

Copp AAV is low.

Also, I’m a big Poolman fan but I’d like an upgrade there.

I love DeMelo. People who thinks he's bad are misinformed, and probably didn't watch much of the MTL series, where it was so clear how much they needed him.
That being said, if you're getting Dougie Hamilton, then I'm ok to lose DeMelo and reallocate some of his $3 million elsewhere

I think Copp at $4M is fair for a 3 year deal in a flat cap world. He’s not worth $5M, so any higher than $4M is very risky for Jets.

Issue with this roster build is that it’s 2 players short. There is $850k left, so that’s one player at minimum, but there is no way a team would play 82 games without an injury or 3. Jets would need at least a million in cap space to operate for the year.

Poolman is a #8D on a cup contender, so that’s a tough #3 RD.

Jmo-demelo then samberg/Stanley-pionk it looks very good rather poolman with Stanley which I think would be exposed
