Vegas Series Lineup

Description
Habs are in tough against this Vegas team. I feel like a Colorado match up would have suited their style better, but they can still win this if they adapt.

First two games are in Vegas, so they have last change. So they'll want to take advantage of the young, small Suzuki and Caufield. Unpopular opinion but maybe it's a good idea to break them up. I still hope Caufield can be a factor 5-on-5. Reunite Armia with Suzuki and Toffoli. Anderson replaces Armia on that gritty cycling veteran line with Perry and Staal and gives that line some speed.

Habs will be happy to match up Danault against Karlsson.

im pretty sure size isn't going to intimidate suzuki and caufield. this isn't marner and the leafs. these 2 have proven to be able to play against size. rmr that ot goal by toffoli? go read the numbers on the back of the jerseys. that was lowry on caufield and another big jet on suzuki trying to pummel him.

You guys are focusing too much on the "small" part of my post. In Vegas, those guys are gonna be up against Pacioretty - Stephenson - Stone. Stone in particular will make you pay for mistakes. Adding some experience and strength to that line will make a difference. Many are over-rating Caufield's impact at this stage in his career.

Anyway, let's see how we feel after game 1.

Weren't you the one who brought size into the conversation? Zuke is 5'11" and 201lbs so not a small guy, Toffoli is 6'0" 197 lbs so again not a small guy. Stone is 6'3" 202lbs Patches is 6'2" 215lbs and Stephenson is 6'0" 208lbs so the only guy that has a size advantage is Patches. However Caufield has played against the likes of Lowry, Matthews, Marner, Conner, Ehlers and Nylander and has faired just fine. Any one of those 6 can make you pay for a mistake just as easily as Stone can but still Caufield held his own in those 2 series.

That first line is really going to struggle to do anything. You saw what just happened to colorados top line. You guys haven’t really played infront of fans this year either, it’s going to be a shell shock.

Getting to this point is phenomenal for you guys. You guys are definitely on the right track.

You def made a good point about the size too. We’ve got big defenseman too. It will play a factor.

The difference is that Stone causes the mistakes. That line dominated MacKinnon and Rantanen, what makes you think they can't handle Suzuki and Caufield? At least putting Armia (who's playing really well) on that line instead of a 20 year old with 19 NHL games will alleviate that issue a bit. Caufield will still be on the PP.

Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like this is an adjustment the Habs will have to make.

I don't think it matters whether Stone plays against Caufield or Armia. If Vegas is somehow able to keep his line away from Danaults then the Habs will be in a tough position. I don't think that Vegas for at least the first 2 games are going to worry about the matchups too much though. Our rosters are pretty similar, so unless Danault's line completely dominates Stones then they will both likely just roll 4 lines.
