Salary Cap Mode: Basic

Description

If not EJ in colorado waives so that toews can be protected. A pick can go the other way in this setup.
For cbj, since both are on UFA, they make a deal to take both uncertain players instead of Stenlund or someone with RFA. Both have done great in the KHL and will have a second chance here.
In islanders, Leddy can't be protected, so Kraken deal with trotz to get eberle instead for a 2nd if they pick ho-sang.
Nashville goes 8FD: forsberg-arvidsson-kunin-johansen/duchene-josi-ekholm-ellis-fabbro and either johansen or duchene is picked over järnkrok. Hard to tell whether washington protect dillon or schultz. The other is picked. (could be a rotation in case EJ waives where gudas-vanecek-graves are picked instead of francouz+graves-acciari-schultz/dillon).
Dahlén has been great in Sweden for a couple of years now and will probably head to the NHL, so this is a bet on the Kraken side to see if he works in the NHL.

EDITS:
Laughton is probably protected, makes Kraken pick Aubé-Kubel.
Borgström might be protected by Blackhawks, pick is Stillman instead.

I think most people would be surprised if Seattle went for Girgensons. We’d be even more surprised if once they selected him they weren’t even putting him in the lineup.

True, Voracek and JvR don't need protection since their contracts anyway make them untouchable in the draft. Just take someone like Aubé-Kubel and scratch him instead...

Want a forward who is ready for the NHL from the get go, and there will be injuries to the line-up at some point. If Aubé-Kubel is picked instead of Laughton, then Zemgus gets his chance immediately
