Canes 21-22 Forsberg

Created by: vikhodush
Team: 2021-22 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 14, 2021
Published: Jun. 14, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Likely not realistic because I’m assuming forsberg wants to re-sign with Preds and they want to re-sign him as well. But this would be a great addition to Carolina and I think it would be the perfect fit. Not sure about the value in the trade but willing to tweak it.

If they did trade for him, assuming he’d get something like a 6x8M extension - going to do a part two for the 22-23 season to see how that plays out with rest of team.

Barrie would be a good replacement to play with Slavin, not sure if that deal is realistic so feel free to weigh in.

Oleksiak brings some size and stability to third pair. Could try Keane out there as Hjalmerson is coming back (honestly not sure about that one). Detroit gas cap space for Gardiner and he’d be serviceable over there if we send a pick with him.

Think Armia would be a great scoop and fit for this team - how’s the contract?

That's WAY too much to give up for someone who's a rental, and he is a rental because Carolina won't have the space to re-sign him with both Trocheck and Nino needing new deals.

If we are giving up that much, an extension has to already be in place

I'm not a fan of either team, but that is way too much for Filip Forsberg.

We're not giving that much for Forsberg. Don't get me wrong here, he'd be a nice add for sure. But since Forsberg will probably want more on his next contract and we are in a bit of a cap crunch here, he would likely end up being just a rental, and I am NOT taking a rental for that price.

I’m not seeing it as a rental. Posted a part 2 where I played the extension out following season. Let troch and Nino go essentially.

Yep it is - I should’ve made that clearer in description. Check out part 2 where I played out extension in following season.

Definitely should’ve been more clear in description - this is an extension play. Check out my part 2.

Letting Trocheck go is comical. He's been the 2nd best player on the roster during his short stint here. Any recommendation that they let him go is straight-up laughable.

He’s been great but I’d assume he wants a big pay day. Would rather not overpay when Necas can and will develop into the 2C of the future. Can improve at another area and still be solid up the middle.

Assuming he wants one more big deal as he comes out of his prime I’d rather not overpay. Necas can develop into a 2C or you can find a short term replacement while he does at a reasonable cap hit. That being said if he’s willing to stay on a more team friendly deal then sure go ahead and give him a new deal. Overpaying players on new deals for prior performance is how teams get in trouble.

Necas won't move over, his dominance on the wing has become more too valuable. He's better suited to being the right-shot winger of the top 6. Paying for Trocheck is the priority, moving for a rental like Forsberg right makes no sense.

Like I put in the description and in multiple responses. It’s not a rental.

It's a rental, because you do not prioritise signing a winger over a center. Trocheck would be re-signed before Forsberg. If you can only pick 1, you take Trocheck over Forsberg which makes him... A RENTAL!

It’s not a rental if it’s a sign and trade, chief. Which as I stated, it is. Have your opinion over who is more valuable or should be prioritized but twisting things around doesn’t change facts.

Simply do a better job of setting up your team! Perhaps don't let the teams 2nd highest scorer walk away!

Haha thx bro - it’s all good he’s entitled to his opinion. Just don’t get why he’s so obsessed about a hypothetical in a forum like this where ppl just get creative. I’ve seen a lot of the same old versions and figured this one would be a fun different option
