This only works if Geno is missing most of the calendar year of 2021. The LTIR forgiveness for Geno being out would be approx 54 days and the cap would break even. Everyday after only builds cap space for the deadline.

Daily AAV. Unless I'm mistaken, everyday that he doesn't play, they get compensated against the limit. If he misses the above described 54 days, they stay under the cap.

I’m sure there are other variations of this that could work. But Canes aren’t giving up Geekie as part of a rights package and don’t want Desmith or Mareno.
