Description
I'm screwing around in here at this point.

Re the Leafs trade, One of those guys is probably expansion fodder, the other is cheap useful depth for the Leafs. EDIT: Have been getting flamed on for this one. I've seen Leaf fans handing Kerfoot away which is absolutely baffling to me, given that he drives possession like crazy. IMO he's a fantastic 3rd liner who can fill in the top 6, but is an underperformer as a strictly top 6 option.

I really like Podz but it would be better if he had to earn his minutes rather than him being handed the minutes.

The more I think about Mayfield the more I think we need to get him no matter what. The defense is just about solved if you add him. Yes, it's not great, but you can add the following year. EDIT: While I still think this is the case, I did my research (and got dunked on by the Islanders fans) and I think Lou finds his way out of this situation either through enticement to take Leddy or by losing Michael Del Colle or Kiefer Bellows. We'll see Islanders fans, we'll see. For now, I settle for Hakanpaa.

F: Petey, Miller, Boes, Horvat, Pearson, Kerfoot, Compher
D: Schmidt, Juolevi, Kempny
G: Thatcher

VAN pass on that Leafs trade, don't understand getting rid of Juolevi.

Bud I tell you this as a Leafs fan. Buy years into Hughes UFA status. If NJD take Luke the possibility of losing him is high after the 5 yr term.

Why pass on Leafs trade? I agree that if Compher is available for a 3rd, Kerfoot is probably worth the same. Maybe the 2021 3rd and MacEwan gets it done. I don't think MacEwan plays while Green is here.

Yeah we can probably keep Juolevi. I think exposing Myers allows us to protect Juolevi anyway. I just woke up feeling anti-Juolevi today.

JP Barry is a fiend for that 5 year deal. We need to sacrifice term for cap

Make sense but bridge it so you have RFA rights. Again letting him walk into UFA status especially with situation like that is terrible

I agree, I just did what I think will happen with Hughes and Petey. I hope I'm wrong

Elliot Friedman came out today and said the Petterson deal is at 3 yrs AAV is unkown but Hughes is wanted at 3 yrs and his camp is pushing for more. As I’m gonna say it buckle up for a summer of being pissed off. I’ve been through it twice with Nylander and Marner

I would leave Myers and Schmidt exposed and pray Seattle takes one, Spend that 6m better long term. Holtby isn't selected, c'mon Seattle has 20 better options.

I wouldn't say no to taking a lottery ticket on Juolevi with a 3rd round pick. Picking a D with a 3rd round pick is typically 5 years out if they turn out. That said, the Oilers have a glut of LD prospects.

True. I was thinking about Pittsburgh but doubted myself. After all the moves I made I wanted to recoup some picks

Friends with the Hughes family?
You can tell what they will do?

Quit being toxic my guy. I’m just saying dont ain’t him to 5yr deal. You buy no years in UFA status and with NJD wanting to take Luke Hughes why would he not want to go play with his bros.

Not toxic, just stupid to assume things...like
Devils wanting Luke
Luke being there when Devils pick
Jack wanting to stay in New Jersey
etc.
Just because they are brothers doesn't automatically translate a team wants the other brothers or the brothers want to play together
Maybe they will join Quinn in Vancovuer, or where Luke gets drafted.

Isles pass. Mayfield is on a dirt cheap contract that's very valuable with their current cap situation and don't really need Woo considering they have Pulock, Dobson, Mayfield, and Wilde on the right side.

You're pretty much bound to lose him to Seattle if you don't trade him though, no?

Also, assuming you trade Mayfield, you then have one less of those on the right side...
