Disagree here as a Canes fan.. Losing Hamilton is going to hurt and we'll need someone to play an offensive role on Slavin's pairing. I'm not entirely against this trade, but it's probably a slight overpay on Carolina's side.

Rielly isn't playing the right. The only way I can see Carolina keeping Skjei is if they pay for Seattle to take Jake Gardiner. However if Jake Bean left exposed Ron Francis is 100% taking him as that was his pick in 2016.

Both are viable options that have reasonable ideas backing them.

Skjei is the better player now, but he is overpaid by a million, so if he is taken we can get a cheaper UFA to do what he does

Bean is younger and is more mistake prone, but he will be cheaper for the next couple of years and has the potential to grow into a top 4 role.
