Greenway and a pick for Dvorak. I upped the pick from a 2nd to a 1st to compensate for 1 year of rask.

Just playing around with it. How are my values overall? Terrible? Underpaid for everything? I should give up acgming?

I think you're way under on Dvorak. He's a 20+ goal scorer on a good contract (when adjusted for the short seasons) and Greenway was nearly invisible this year. Forcing them to take Rask hurts you too. I think we're looking at a cost of

Greenway
Rossi or Boldy
1st

Adding Rask means you probably need to add a second or another first. Probably better to just buyout Rask.

The Konecny trade trade is alot closer. The key there will be: how much does GMCF still like Dumba?

Way too low on Dvorak, he'd cost a lot more. Probably Dumba.

Furthermore, I don't think that gets Konecny. You would need to add a little bit, nothing much mind you but something. But he's not who we should be targeting either. We should be going after either Patrick or Frost and their 1st instead.

Dvorak definitely costs more, but certainly not either Rossi or Boldy. He's not that good.

He scored 18 goals in 70 games and 17 goals in 56 games. That's about 24 goals in a regular season. As a center at 4.5M/yr for 4 years, he's definitely worth Greenway, Boldy, and a first.

I can assure you that Dvorak is not worth Greenway, Boldy and a 1st. Consider that he's an Eriksson Ek level player, at most. Would you trade that package for Ek?

Dvorak is little more than a 2nd line center on most teams. Boldy is a top 50 prospect in the NHL, same goes for Rossi, he's not on the table unless it's for a legitimate 1C. IE an Eichel or Barkov, anything less then that kind of return is grounds for being fired. Both Boldy and Rossi have much higher ceilings than Dvorak, their potential floors are on par with Dvorak. We hands down lose those trades if they're included.

If it's a lesser prospect such as Beckman, Khusnutdinov, or Khovanov then yes. But Boldy or Rossi are off the table.

I have to agree with you. A prospect like khovanov I wouldn’t mind adding tot he trade but a rossi or boldy would be a hard no. Beckman I hunk of as just below boldy as a wing prospect

I think that depends on how far out into the future guerin is looking to build. If he thinks this team should be contenders in a year then konecny would make more sense than a frost or Patrick. Kk, fiala and jee are the same age as konencny so it would make sense to me he would pursue pieces closer to their age and then expect to continue building with the draft. Konecny and Dvorak are both roughly the same age as our current core, so getting players who’s prime will Be hitting at the same time is smart.

I highly disagree...

No he doesn't. We already have too many wingers as it is. Konecny would just block Boldy, and we also have Beckman and Firstov in the system. We don't need another winger, let alone do Kaprizov or Fiala for that matter. They need centers more than they need another winger.

Patrick is a former top 5 pick, and has been more or less NHL ready for the last two years. Given his medical issues (migraines) he didn't play two seasons ago and this was more or less his first full season in the NHL. While it did not go great, he wants to be traded and get a fresh start elsewhere. He would be on our roster to start next year and would stay there. He would help us compete now and in the future. He still has top-six upside. He's worth a shot.

Morgan Frost is also NHL ready. Two seasons ago he was brought up from the AHL to handle 2C duties after Couturier went down for an extended period of time and Hayes had to take over the 1C spot. Frost played well, at only 20 years old, and was expected to play in the NHL this past year. Instead, he suffered a season ending injury just 2 games into the season. None the less he's ready too. He's going to be a high-end 2C, and like Patrick could probably slot into that 2C spot almost immediately.

Dvorak
Frost/Patrick
JEE
Sturm/Hartman*
Rossi
Khusnutdinov
Khovanov
Shaw
McBain/Giroux

Center depth is and will be more important to any chance of possible success the team will have in the next three years more so than any single winger will. At least any winger not named either Kaprizov or Fiala.

Boldy has top six potential, Beckman like Firstov is projected to be a middle six winger. Boldy is a top 50 prospect, Beckman just cracks the top 80.

Is Khovanov even an asset any more? Sounds like he got sent to the minors of the KHL which is a really bad sign

Yes he is still an asset. So not at all, the team he was on was stacked at C and they wanted him to play wing instead. He didn't want to as he considers himself a center, so he refused. Which caused him to get into it with the head coach a little bit, so they sent him down to the MHL (Russian Minors) where he did extremely well and he was much happier for it.

He's strong-willed and certainly stubborn, but it pretty much just derives from his highly competitive nature and his desire to win. Which isn't a bad thing. Former Wild assistant coach and interim head coach John Torchetti coached Khovanov while he was playing for the Moncton Wildcats and is extremely high on him, and has said in interviews with Russo that he is just the type of player you have to be open minded about and with and know what buttons to push. Conversely the coach of the KHL team he had signed with is pretty well known, to an almost infamous degree, to be pretty rigid in his coaching style. So not the greatest fit, really.

Khovanov would be right up Army's alley down in the AHL though.

That's all good to hear. I remember Torch saying he would need more time in the AHL, but that Khovy wouldn't want to hear that, but it's true. I don't mind a competitive player who thinks he knows where he should play. Hopefully he reports to camp on time and everything's good.
