Why does Luke Fox do this to me

Created by: RowdyRoddy96

Initial Creation Date: Jun. 21, 2021

Description
Luke Fox said the Leafs were kicking the tires on Dougie Hamilton and they did the same last year with Pietrangelo so I'm somehow getting the feeling that the Leafs are going to find someway to get Dougie in T.O

So this is year it will be: they say they get Hamilton but they get Larsson

I'd be surprised if Hamilton signed with the Leafs. If I were him I'd stay in Carolina. All that team needs is a good goalie and they can win a Cup.

well that won’t be enough to get him. And that deal probably doesn’t get you konecny unretained, let alone with 1.5mil retained for 4 years. Still not sure why leafs fans think other teams want engvall

So would I that's why I thought Luke Fox was nuts when he said that? I know the Leafs were in on Pietrangelo but didn't pull the trigger due to the price. Whether or Not it would have been beneficial to the team is a question we can never answer now. The Leafs missed out on the first which is why they aren't probably going to let a 2nd opportunity like this slip through their fingers. Anyway there's no Detroit in the trades this time? What do you think mate?

I think the Leafs are better off without Hamilton. Their roster is already top heavy with 4 players making over 40 mil a year. Adding Hamilton makes it 5 players making almost 50 mil. Even If you trade Rielly you're still paying Muzzin and Brodie 10 mil. So that's 7 players making 60 mil. So you're left with 21.5 mil to pay 15 players. Does this even make sense? Good luck filling out the rest of your roster with quality depth.

Your roster doesn't even have 2 scratches. Players can't play every game. You need at least 22 players.

A 2nd/3rd pair RHD, a bust and a 2nd doesn't get you TK let alone with retention!

Again it's mock up even I think getting Hamilton is out of realm but I'd love for the team to look like this it most likely won't but I'm not having a great week and doing these get my mind off it so consider it therapy I suppose?

If the Flyers are trading TK, it'll probably be for a partner for Provorov right now. I'm sure they'd even be willing to add to the deal if needed.

Holl isn't that guy and probably don't want to wait on Liljegren.

I understand that the Leafs could really use Hamilton's bomb from the point. But at some point the Leafs need to stop star hunting and focus on depth. Look at the Isles. 4 quality lines and 3 D pairs who can come right at you. 2 good goalies. Plus they're even missing their captain and arguably best player in Anders Lee.

Dubas is married to his core 4 and that 11 mil Marner contract is a killer. 0 goals in 18 playoff games. Nuff said. I'm very happy to see no Detroit trades. It won't last long but I'll take the break.

Correct but like you said Dubas is married to the Core 4 and will probably end up giving them one last chance and it will fail. Personally I don't mind trading Rielly for what I placed above. I liked Trevor Moore when he was a Leaf and I found he was like another Connor Brown only Smaller. Brandon Lemieux adds a grit game to the bottom 6 and he can always get better with time. I'm personally all for getting David Savard from TB. Great Stay at Home D Man who realistically is in his Prime at 30 and could be alot cheaper than Hamilton and just as effective to the defensive game. Could save the Leafs 2 Mil in the longrun depending if they gave Savard term over Dollar? I like the Idea of Signing Brandon Saad immensely and bring up Sandin, Robertson, and Brooks to fill in some gaps then use the rest of the cap to sign the rest of the depth needed? But like I said I'm not in a great headspace this week so this is helping me a bit

Saad made 6 mil so he'll cost at least 6. Savard made 4 so likely between 4.5 and 5 for him. Robertson, Brooks and Sandin are good young cheap adds. Even Liljegren or Anderson for depth. Personally I'd keep Rielly and forget about Dougie. Let Hyman walk and sign Coleman and Goodrow. Re-sign Foligno cheap so I can have a 3rd line sledgehammer line of Goodrow Foligno Coleman. Try to trade for Vanecek in Washington for his cheap salary to play with Campbell. Sign Michael Bunting cheap. Local boy from Scarborough. Scored 10 goals in 21 games with the Coyotes this season. 2 years 1.5 mil.

A late 2nd, a dman prospect who is not in the top 75 of dman prospects anymore (and after draft probably not in the top 100) and a RHD who is in the right spot right place, but is 28 yrs old with only 2 NHL seasons for a 23 yr old with multiple 60+ pt seasons, signed reasonably and long term?

And all those UFAs take sweetheart deals for TOR?

Brandon Saad is signed to a 6×5 which is essentially what we want to sign Hyman to but it probably won't happen but it is most definitely not a sweetheart deal?
Dougie Hamilton in this scenario is signed to a 7×7 that's not a sweetheart deal because that is what he is currently valued?
The Konecny trade was just a bleep because again this is a mock up and This is what I'd hope the Leafs would look like next season. I am aware of the values of the players at hand and I know Konecny is worth alot more

Yea But, we have lots of young players coming up that can improve our bottom 6 including Holloway, Benson and McLeod or maybe even Marody
