That would be insane. Johnson would be a huge get. You could have Johnson, Getzlaf, and Steel down the middle next year with Rakell, Silfverberg, Cogs, Perry, and Kesler on wings. I'm a Flyers fan but that lineup sounds perfect. The contract extension for Johnson could get tricky though but hopefully the backup goalie next year isn't making 4.1 mil AAV.

Good luck with that Johnson contract bet he gets around $5.5 million per for 5 to 6 years or so. But Vatanen in Tampa would be sweet.

Doubt Bob Murray trades Vatanen until he know's what Fowler is going to do. Can't see Murray trading Vatanen if there's a good chance that Fowler walks after next season.

You're right, it doesn't work money-wise this season, but we gain cap next year. It could work. I'm not a fan of Johnson though. Too small for Randy and this team. Prefer Palat.

Fowler would stay, but point taken. Vatanen seems the likely player to be moved prior to the expansion draft. I assume Murray will have an unofficial discussion with Fowler about his future and will move Vatanen. If you ask me, even without the conversation, I'd take the risk. Fowler is too important to this team and I think Vatanen isn't living up to his contract. He's struggled since getting bigger minutes against tougher comp.

This is a very lopsided trade. If anything, picks go the other way.
