Oilers make big changes to contend around Mcdavid and Draisatl.
-Jones to Seattle.
-Kassian for basically nothing. Cap dump needed, Kassian doesn't provide enough for what he is paid, but Rangers have stated they are looking for grit and are rumored to be interested. To any team works however.
-Giving up a first, a decent young forward, and a 4th line player they don't need to get a great young puck moving d man. Dunn asking price is reported as about a first, and this is a bit more than that even. Dunn will be a key piece long term, and this could be a steal for the Oilers (St. Louis has mis-utilized him and will regret it when they do move on from him, similar to the Devon Toews situation).
-Oilers pay up a lot here, but get themselves a younger great top 6 forward who could breakout with the Oilers big time, and also dump off a bad contract. Reinhart currently is still an amazing player who could play winger or center for them, and improve the top 6 offensively but also would be very solid defensively still, and who knows what numbers he could put alongside one of Mcdavid or Draisatl.
-Stalock trade gets you something for a goalie who likely goes on waivers come season start. Toronto may need a backup goalie for cheap, but works with any team.
FA's:
-Buyout Koskinen. Saves a lotta money and allows them to get a better one for cheaper.
-Tatar is a great option. Coming off a slightly disappointing year in Montreal and likely done playing for them with the constant misusage, he likely won't break the bank in FA, but could be an amazing fit for Mcdavid on the left wing. He is extremely talented, and generates lots of offence while also being solid defensively. He would be an amazing fit.
-Perrault and Goodrow are good bottom 6 lineup players who are solid two way and will provide great ability to shut down other players when needed, chip in some offence, and excel in playoff hockey. The bottom 6 should be especially focused on being able to shut down when it matters, and these 2 will help a lot with it.
-Goligoski would be a great option for the 3rd pair. He can play either side, is coming off a great year, and could be gotten for fairly cheap. He adds even more good puckmoving to the d core, but also solid experience and good two-way game which could mesh well with Larsson.
-Bernier has sneakily been a very good goalie for Detroit, and should help ease pressure off Smith if he starts to decline. They run a 1a/1b style, and whichever goalie earns it starts comes playoffs.
-Larsson and Nuge brought back.
*if Girgensons doesn't play/isn't well after his big injury, one of Cooper Marody, Tyler Benson, or Devin Shore can slot in.
*all d pairs can be switched. Ice times would be pretty evened out between the 3 pairs
Uhh so you paid a first for Dunn, now where's the equal if not greater payment for eatng 18M worth of Turris trash for you? The Blues will want nothing to do with that, and if you want bad cap eaten you picked the wrong team.
Toronto isn’t trading any draft picks especially not for a third goaltender when we already have hutch
Stalock makes a fine backup, idk why he didn't play last year. He makes barely any moeny too, and is better than Hutch. As I said tho, works with any team

18M of Turris? I think you are forgetting hes paid about 1.6 mil for 1 more year. He got bought out by Nashville last summer, he makes barely anything
I think could go farther. Better odds of going far than really any team they've had in a while. Offensive core is probably top 5 or so in the league thanks to maybe the best or second best top 6 in the league and a solid bottom 6 unlike past years, and the d core is sneakily good, with great puckmoving ability all around

We need a tandem goalie not a ****ty backup and stalock didn’t even play in the nhl last year hes no better than hutch he insnt even a nhl player anymore Toronto declines
But its the fact that people think we're ok with just absorbing the entire contract and paying for it when that couldn't be farther from the truth
Ive heard they are interested, and again this could work with any team. Kassian isn't an awful player, and could rebound. The contract is bad, but isn't very much negative value, if so a tiny bit. I do realize now Rangers cap situation, so it does make more sense if he went to a diffrent team

When he played 2 years ago he was solid. And i will repeat again, this trade works with any team in the NHL that could use goaie support
