Description
Playing Around and seeing How could the Avs add Evander Kane and not massively overhaul this roster in the process

The Kane trade was proposed by @Ihaveajoner https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/468692?post_id=2452159 but this has a little tweak to it as Jost is needed on the Avs roster still as 3C/PKer. So instead of Jost add a prospect like Ranta would would suck to give up but he is a big body power forward prospect of note

The Devils trade is either Graves or Donskoi, all depending who isnt selected by Seattle. As the Devils fans seem to be inserted in either player at that price tag of draft picks, so swap them out and combine them in any order you like, that is not that important to the build.

I wanted to try to build this roster without buying out EJ and seeing what the impacts are. After signing Jost Makar and Landeskog after picking up E.Kane. To fill out a full roster they can not sign Grubi to a 6x6 deal, which I believe is market value.

The contracts are more or less design for the cap hits, the lengths arent as important but getting Landy at 8m Makar at 9m Jost at 2m seems to be fair value without really that much fo a hometown discount for the group.

If San Jose retains on EK or the group signs for less then there is room to sign Grubauer. If not the Avs have to buyout EJ to sign him or walk away.

Yeah not a fan of this deal. Just so little value coming back. Might be all we get if Kane refuses to waive hisNTC though

yeah the value seems light based on what he does on the ice, but if he wants out and thats what another Sharks fan posted for him...if thats the value bc of his financial stuff. Gotta check in on it

Overpay on Ullmark. If you can figure out a way to get an extra .5-1M you can probably re-sign Grubi instead

Depends on a lot really. He has a three team list so if the Avs are the only team that wants him on it it would make sense.

Buyout EJ or sharks retain would do that. I do agree, try to open up the cap more to keep Grubi at 6m

@coga16 It pains me to say it, but I'm just starting to think an EJ trade or buyout is an inevitability. With his injury history, I just don't think you can't count on him to play top-4 minutes anymore.

I didnt know he had such a small trade list. Yeah he could really hammer the sharks on the return if hes being stubborn about where he wants to go and if in fact he does want out

I agree, I do believe they will be heading down that road. If the buy him out avs have 4m additional cap space with the 2m penalty. SO you could toss 1.5m to the Ullmark contract to keep Grubi at 6x6. So they have 2m and change to spend on a depth Dman if they want. Not the worst set of moves

I'd want Kaut to be part of the deal, not Ranta.

Kane doesn't want out. He's at the top of his game and constantly talks about how much he love SJ. A retooling team does not trade it's top scorer for this little of value.

that is not what Frank Servallis report is saying about Kane

https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/seravallis-trade-targets-20-names-in-play-in-the-summer-of-jack/
'Scoop: Doug Wilson is navigating choppy waters in the Bay Area. Sources indicate significant friction built up between Kane and a number of his teammates last season, frustration that was expressed clearly to management in exit interviews.'

So that is where this is all stemming from.

See what happens when I don't read news for a week. Then I accept the trade with one change. Not Ranta, but I'd prefer Kaut.

I got two things with this update. First of all I want the 2021 pick rather than 2022. But if this happens after the draft I would want a late pick through in.

2nd. Any of the three players you just traded away would work for the EK trade. And I think Kaut is a better fit as he fits our needs. Would be willing to through in Alex true or kellman for 4th line depth.

Also there is probably a reality where EJ gets bought out.
