Zegras and no. 3 are the starters no matter what. Eichel is a top-10 player in the league when healthy and if you disagree, kick rocks. Adding a second and third helps offset the two firsts coming back. Could toss in a prospect on the Sabres end probably.

Lets. Get. Weird. You can make an argument that this is a lot to give up on either end, but for me, it works. Hughes is an elite talent and can hopefully slide into the no. 1 center role that Jack Eichel will leave. Adding Wood is something I would love because he is A) a physical player Buffalo desperately needs, B) can score goals as well, and C) Wood was born in Buffalo (his dad played for the Sabres). Adding Zegras gives the Devils a top center to fill the void, Olofsson - who I do like - offsets Wood while the Devils really like Risto. Adding the picks in have to be the sweeteners in order to pry a talent like Hughes away from NJ.

A third may not be enough but Elvis can become the starter until UPL is ready.

Again, probably not enough to get a guy like Tkachuk, but I love him. The perfect player to address the Sabres scoring and physicality deficiencies. Mittelstadt gives them a young, exciting player while Bryson and Thompson have some good qualities. Toss in the first pick of the second round and have some fun.
