Would make this trade at the draft.

I'd also like to see if Nielsen or Dermott are any good.

Toronto would be stupid to trade Nylander for Trouba. A good young defenseman like him is so rare, that people are overblowing his value a lot. He'll fetch a big return, but Nylander and a first round pick is far too much. Nylander will be an essential part of their future. Trouba would be too, but they'll be able to a defenseman somewhere else. Not at the expense of Nylander

I would agree from an interest standpoint on Trouba, but I agree not for Nylander and a 1st. Maybe Kapanen and a young defensemen like Carrick.

The hard part for the Leafs acquiring a top end young defenseman is the fact that there really aren't any. I mean I think Ekblad is going to be an elite defenseman but besides that who else screams elite quality? I would argue Jones and Werenski but after that Rielly is probably just as good as anyone else.

To be honest I think if the Leafs can't find a good defenseman without trading one of the big 3, then they may as well continue with what they have. Their top 4 are all young, and it's not like they're EDM Oilers bad, they're in the hunt for the playoffs. I think we could look at beefing up our bottom 6 and that would be more than beneficial.

Again, folks don't appreciate what a good position the Leafs are in, prior to the expansion draft. While most teams can only protect three Dmen, the Leafs can protect five. And they can make trades for competent Dmen without giving up, a top forward, a mid round first, and an AHLer who might replace Hunwick next year. Why makes Trouba so good to warrant such as a return?

Some leafs fans want this guy gone already, he's only 20 but because he's not tearing up the league on the scoresheet he HAS to be traded.

Kessel all over again, pathetic to watch from an outside perspective. You guys finally have a phenomenal core and you wanna break it up already....and people wonder why the leafs havn't won a cup in so long.
