I’m not sure a package of ritchie and Debrusk gets a 1st.

I think Krejci and tuukka could probably be gotten for less, and would rather see Reilly back than oleksiak for that amount. Hall probably gonna get a little more AAV and less term, also don’t want to see bernier. There’s better options out there

Oilers for sure not giving a first for DeBrusk/Ritchie. I wouldn't mind trading for Debrusk depending on price but have zero interest in Ritchie.

I see this a lot and I sort of get it, but despite the last year+ he is averaging 22.5 per 82gp
Conor Garland... 23.5

I agree his value is down, but you have to go back to 2015 draft to find anyone taken after 19th overall in the 1st rd (edm pick) that has outproduced him. 67goals. Next closest is Chytil who has 34goals. So just about half as many goals. All that with two pretty bad seasons over the last two. The only guy taken 19th or later in 2014 to outscore Debrusk is Pastrnak. Only two Burakowsky and Mantha from 2013.

Point being. There is a very high likelihood Debrusk will be substantially better than anyone taken 19th or later in the 1st rd, Most teams think they can find the Gem.

Past the 1st rd is a completely different story.

His value now is the thing that actually matters. And DeBrusk has more goals than Chytil because DeBrusk played almost double the amount of games Chytil has. Chytil also has a better season this time with 22 points in 42 games. DeBrusk, 14 PTS in 41 games. This all brings me back to my point, DeBrusk is a great player, But he isn't worth a 1st

Yeah, but it doesn't change that if you go back to 2013 there are 3 guys with more goals than Debrusk (excluding 2015). Mantha and Pastrnak being the only ones to have more goals in a season (27)
Burakovsky would be the same logic you made with Chytil.

All I said is the likelihood of getting someone more productive in the mid to late 1st rd slot isn't very high. Debrusk will more likely than not be better than anyone you draft there.
You prefer the lottery ticket approach. I get that. I probably would too. I don't think a 1st is laughable though.

Rask at best will be playing half a year, I'd say he signs for 2.5mil or less.
