Thoughts in a Post RV team

Created by: herzausstein
Team: 2021-22 Nashville Predators
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 1, 2021
Published: Jul. 2, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
expansion:

Protect: Forsberg, Jarnkrok, Kunin, Carrier, Ellis, Ekholm, Josi, Fabbro, Saros... Jarnkrok and Ellis traded after expansion.

Seattle takes Sissons.... if they were to take a swing on Duchene or Joey.... Granlund slides into their spot, Pitlick up to 3C and Sissons back to 4C.

Trade Ellis for a player like Konecny. If Konecny can't be had, take the best futures possible.

Trade cousins or grimaldi for a pick. I wanted Turris back so we could bury him in the AHL for the last year of his NHL contract. Taking Turris contract boost Cousins to a 3rd but realistically without taking back a contract to be buried Cousins probably gets like a 5th.

Other then that let the young players fill in the holes

I'd prefer to have Farrance or Davies at 3LHD but it seems like the coach just wants size and grit on the bottom pairing so i doubt that happens.

Oilers pass we can just bury turris ourselves or let him compete for a 4c spot and push McLeod

TB says pleasure doing business. Smashville gets an awesome 5v5 guy whose proven now given top pp minutes he can be that too. TB gets a solid middle 6 foward on a very club friendly contract. Plus much needed cap space

Should get Myers back from philly. Imo Ellis is worth more than Konecny. Fabbro on the first pair would be a nightmare unless he significantly progresses

With this roster, I’d like to see what a Palat and Duchene could do together — maybe starting Tomasino on the 3rd line and giving them one of Tolvanen or Konecny on the opposite wing.

Edit: typo

I guess i view the pairings as Josi and Fabbro getting significant offensive zone heavy starts. Ekholm and Carrier taking the heavy defensive lifting like they did when Ellis was out this season. Myers would be a good add for Nashville as they could use the size. I thought about adding someone like Miller from the UFA group to add size and as a backup measure should Fabbro not progress.

That was kindof my train of thought. Plus for Nashville, we get someone that performs really well in the playoffs. I really like Jarnkrok and his game but he seems to disappear in the playoffs... maybe he could fix that in Tampa though with their better scoring depth.

Fair enough but that doesn't really improve your forward depth. Burying Turris was more about his career decline beginning and ending in Nashville and getting something for Cousins/Grimaldi. I figured Edmonton could use the cheap NHL caliber depth.

Fair. Tolvanen has earned the chance to be top 6 more than Tomasino has as well.
villenash and nativewulf liked this.

Realize I had a typo before — meant Palat and Duchene

I like everything except the EDM trade. I know Cousins isn't flashy, but I like him in the grinder role. Much more suited for a bottom 6 than Turris, imo.
