I'm all for trading Carlson and signing Hamilton (though he'll cost closer to $8.5M a year) but Caps can get a better return for Carlson than that. Plus don't think VGK needs Carlson since they have Piet.

The thing is Carlson is getting older and he’s already slow, terrible on the D side as well.. we need to get younger and faster

yes we need to get younger and fast but not by trading away our core, especially in a terrible trade. We need a small retooling, I would trade away Schultz and Dillon and replace them with younger defenseman. I would give Daniel Sprong consistent time in the line up and he was good this past season and is young, hungry, and fast. But we should keep Carlson, we should also keep kuznetsov he is a star player and you are not gonna get good enough value for him in return.

Also it is very unlikely Hamilton signs with the caps unless they give him a massive contract which is something they can't afford.

This is an absolute very easily no from wild. Joel Eriksson Ek is going nowhere. He's not available for eichel. He sure as heck isn't available for Kuznetsov.

Ps: Wild would have zero interest in Kuznetsov

I do like Carlson, I really do, but I'd sacrifice some of that offense to greatly improve the defense and get younger. Hamilton is a much better 2 way player.
