Description
Didn’t bother with Seattle most of this is just thrown together it’s the hawks trade I’m just looking for some insight on it makes zero sense to me to bring in Keith if Neal isn’t heading the other way strictly from a cap perspective adding in jones honestly feels like a bit much but whatever.

Landeskog is not signing that contract unless it is with Colorado.

The rumors are Neal was a no go and the EDM / Keith mutually and genuinely want each other. So EDM isn't treating Keith like a cap dump like most on here suggest. And he's not IMO, but anyway. It'll likely be Mikko, Caleb, plus a 5th conditional for Keith that's got 1 to 1.5 retained.

Since we're just spit-balling here, it seems to me that the contracts you want to move are either Kassian or Koskinen, because Neal can be bought out pretty cheaply. I'm sure that they'd love Jones because they can protect him from Seattle. And with your cap space, you really don't need them to retain anything on Keith.

I'm curious about Bear. I'd love to see something around Rakell for Bear.

Oilers cap space is less about this coming year but the next when we have to sign Nurse, JP, Bear, McLeod Say that's like 6-7M in raises. Hard to offer UFAs multiple years when you take on an extra 5.5M defenceman before an important RFA year

I get it mutually interested buas I’d be interested too but under certain circumstances the only one that makes sense to me is swapping Neal for Keith then atleast Edmonton is moving the unwanted contract to a position could use more experience in. Both contracts are very similar cap wise just neals is more forgiving on a buyout if I’m not mistaken. It doesn’t make sense to me for Edmonton to buyout Neal then turn around and add Keith but I can see it making sense for hawks to do the deal and take the buyout on Neal.

Owners of teams really do care about salary. $11M vs $3.6M is a very big difference. I think it'll be Mikko and Keith gets retained to match Mikko.

Neal brings absolutely nothing to the table as a player. At the very least, Keith will be a good bottom pairing guy. I think Kieth and Larsson would make a good 2nd pair.

if the Oilers can unload Koskinen and Chicago retains on Keith I would be overjoyed with that deal as an Oiler fan. That to me would be best case scenario.
