Without Caufield/Suzuki there is little hope for this idea.

Even with one of them I’d still not move him within the division

Reportedly BUF has said they want 4 1st rd quality pieces, and no way Caufield isn’t going back the other way. You can’t use “well Eichel isn’t healthy” as an excuse to short pay because whomever acquired him is going to have a clear medical check on him because nobody is giving up the resources needed to acquire Eichel with out it.

In division it’s both or no sale. Don’t like it? You don’t get Eichel.

That’s not realistic. I know they are in the same division, but you can’t get both of Suzuki, and Caufield. It starts with Suzuki then you add more and not Caufield. Eichel is good, but not a top 5 center man.

Suzuki would not be included in a deal. You don't trade a current 1a or 1b center that is 21 years old with his projected ceiling rising like it is for a player that makes 10mil with a pending abnormal neck surgery. Buffalo will get the equalivant of 4 or 5 first round pick calibre players but not an all but guaranteed number 1 C included

well thats the cost though. rmr its a trade within the division. the cost will be higher due to that reason. buffalo will easily get a guaranteed number 1 C for eichel. yes there is concern regarding his injury, but sabres won't make that trade if the return isn't good. if anything they'll let him play out the season and raise his value further

Good luck getting a guaranteed number 1 c with other pieces lol. No wonder teams are backing out of the Eichel deals of thats the price

Not to sound salty, but Eichel won't make the Habs a cup contender. If the league was aligned normally the Habs don't make the playoffs. Also not trying to diminish what they have done with the opportunity. I think they have some good pieces, but you'll have to trade a few of them in order to get Eichel and that only makes your team worse imo.

I think the Habs are better off without losing good young players for a player that make never be the same talent going forward. Save your assets or use them on someone that does not have such a crappy injury. (Neck injuries are hard to come back from)

I’m pretty sure he is a top 5 center. Also, nothing about an Eichel trade to a division rival has to be realistic. Divisional rivals will need to overpay.

Yes, but not that much. And in my opinion, Eichel is not a top 5 center man.

10mil cap hit and having neck surgery lol. I'll respond to say I told you so after they make the deal and don't get a young future C in return plus 3 or 4 other pieces lol

if his cap hit and neck surgery is that much of a risk, why trade for him? are you not wasting assets if he might not recover from neck surgery properly? add 10 mill plus in cap for the next 5 years, does that not handicap your team? why take the risk for trading him if its that much of a concern?
